Mattel reveals 1st crowdfund project WWE Ultimate Edition New Generation arena
With Hasbro and other companies proving the effectiveness of the crowdfunding model, Mattel is ready to get in on the action with its first WWE crowdfunding effort — the WWE New Generation Arena set.
This is a pretty impressive set as it includes the iconic neon sign with curtain for your figures to emerge from en route to the ring. Even better, the neon sign lights up.
There’s also an enhanced real scale ring. The ring has a sculpted base along with wooden plank framing to simulate the old school construction.
It also has fabric turnbuckles.
The only downside of course is the ring apron has to be altered to get the F out, which hurts the authenticity of what is likely going to be a super high end product.
Another selling point is the exclusive Ultimate Edition Diesel figure. This is a pretty good looking Diesel figure although I wish Mattel would include the right elbow pad Diesel typically wore.

Crowdfunding for this project starts Friday, July 23 at MattelCreations.com.
I wish Mattel has a longer window for this project. I love the idea of this, but it’s not smart to make customers choose between the HasLab Star Wars Black Series The Rancor and Marvel Legends Galactus and the Ultimate Edition.
This set is “only” $250 and there’s the tease of other unlockables. I wonder if another figure is too much to ask in this case. Maybe a repaint of the previously released Ultimate Edition Bret Hart?
