NECA Toys Comic Con 2021 Panel: Defenders of the Earth expansion
NECA Toys held its Comic Con 2021 panel today. I’ll break down the full panel later, but I wanted to break down the most exciting reveals to me with the expansion of the Defenders of the Earth line.
NECA’s Blaine Rodenbaugh and Randy Falk broke down the reveals including the Original Superheroes line based off the classic comic strip takes of Flash Gordon, Ming the Merciless and The Phantom.
The Phantom will have striped tights, two guns and dual holsters. Randy mentioned The Phantom’s skull accessory will have glow in the dark eyes.
These figures will be available around November.

Randy name dropped other potential figures could include Zorro and Tarzan.
Another reveal was the 40th anniversary of the Flash Gordon movie homage Flash and Ming set.
This set will be available online and at Wal-Mart.
I was a major fan of the Flash Gordon 1979 cartoon so to see reveals of a Flash and Ming from that era has me excited.
I really hope that line can be expanded to include the other main characters from the cartoon. These are an online exclusives and also available at Target. I’m thrilled Target gets this exclusive as they “should” be easier to find than at Wal-Mart.
