Wonder Woman #776

wonder woman #776

Diana’s travels take her to the realm of fairies, who mistakenly believe she’s killed their queen and demand justice.

Writers Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad haven’t done a lot to really sell Janus as a threat to Wonder Woman and this issue felt more like treading water. Given the nature of this issue, having Scary Godmother creator Jill Thompson tackle the art made sense from a thematic perspective. Thompson’s art won’t be for everyone with her sketch like watercolor style.

Conrad and Cloonan don’t make the elves much of a threat and essentially fast forward through this portion of Diana’s quest. It’s done so rapidly that this story barely feels of any consequence.

Thompson fans should appreciate seeing her drawing Wonder Woman again, but there’s little incentive for readers to grab this needless side quest issue.
