Image Comics reviews 7/28/21 – Spawn #320

Todd McFarlane keeps rolling with Spawn as this latest arc seems to have renewed his creativity. This issue finds Soul Crusher beating down Cy-Gor in the hopes of drawing Spawn out. What Soul Crusher wasn’t expecting was the full fury of Spawn’s rage for making a pawn out of one of his remaining allies.

Artist Carlo Barberi handles this action heavy issue with ease first in framing Soul Crusher like a threat in his thrashing of Cy-Gor and his resilience in battling Spawn.

MORE:

Sometimes it’s worth slowing down the story to just let an artist run loose with an issue full of big time action sequences. McFarlane lobs it up and Barberi hammers it down with tremendous dramatic effect.

Jay David Ramos also brings it with intense colors that skillfully bring the contrast of light and darkness squaring off.

McFarlane is setting up a fun arc and with Spawn and Cy-Gor fully aligned, it’s gonna be bad news for all the agents seeking entry into the Dead Zone.
