Deathstroke and Black Canary go to space to tangle with another major league villain with some help from Toyman.

Writer Joshua Williamson has a solid dynamic with Deathstroke and Black Canary. She calls him out repeatedly and is treated as an equal instead of a nursemaid.

Williamson is taking the welcome approach of making each issue a separate story. The norm these days is to stretch every story into five or six issues so it’s nice to get a ton of action and just keep it moving. This doesn’t lead to the most complex stories yet it feels like the right approach for this take on Deathstroke.

Artist Howard Porter continues to be up to the challenge for these wild scenarios. Porter isn’t shortchanging any details and it’s immensely aiding the scope of the action. Hi-Fi’s colors are just as strong with bombastic choices that are very striking.

Deathstroke isn’t the meatiest book on the stands, but it’s got a throwback feel with unrestrained and unpredictable action.
