DC vs. Vampires #2

The second installment of this maxi-series is filled with some strong moments. Writers James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg are going for the jugular with some of the shocking character deaths, but it’s needed to create this unpredictable tone.

Batman takes aggressive measures to make sure his Family has been free of getting infiltrated while Green Arrow actively hunts down vampires. It’s encouraging to see Green Arrow treated like an A-list player in this event.

Otto Schmidt’s art style seems almost counterintuitive for this kind of series with his more animated approach. Schmidt has been focused on embracing the innate horror of the premise resulting in some strong scenes.

While this issue was a little heavier on Batman than a DC-wide event probably should be, the payoff to that segment was worth it.

Hopefully, Tynion IV and Rosenberg will share the spotlight better next issue.
