DC Comics reviews 11/23/21 – DC vs Vampires #2, The Flash #776
Robin #8
Robin gets his Dragon Ball Z episode style final fight with Connor Hawke in a battle to the death.
Writer Joshua Williamson has firmly established that Connor is a better fighter than Damian, but the winner of the tournament is still a surprise. While the extended fight takes the majority of the issue, artists Gleb Melnikov and Max Dunbar get to show off their fight choreography talents with intense action scenes.
The payoff for this arc actually delivers and I’m very fascinated to see how Williamson delivers on the finale.

Task Force Z #2
It’s refreshing to see a creative team fully sold on a concept and embracing every possibility. Writer Matthew Rosenberg was tasked with basically making a Suicide Squad title with zombies. Over the last few years, some great concepts don’t result in killer stories, but Rosenberg gets exactly how to play this series out.
Whether it’s Red Hood trying to keep control of the zombie monsters or figure out the secrets of the team’s handler it’s working very well. The character mix has also been impressive and the dialogue hasn’t felt forced at all.
Artist Eddy Barrows conveys all the emotion through Red Hood while doubling down in the grotesque for the rest of the team. Barrows provides a proper horror movie tone with his layouts.
This is a title that could have easily been botched, but it’s developing into one of DC’s most engaging team books.
