DC Comics reviews 12/7/21 – Batman #118, Dark Knights of Steel #2

Suicide Squad #10

Suicide Squad #10

Between Ambush Bug’s fourth wall shattering commentary and the in-fighting among this mismatched team, Suicide Squad remains an enjoyable title that continues to deliver.

This issue, Waller’s team is in the midst of a space battle with Thanagarians and promptly arrested by Green Lantern Sojourner Mullein. That was all part of Waller’s real plan to put the team in position to snatch the final “recruit” for her team. Just when Waller thinks she’s all set, Rick Flag prepares to make his move with his anti-Suicide Squad.

Robbie Thompson writes this issue mainly from Culebra’s perspective, which was a good choice since she’s still a relative newcomer for many readers. She’s been a solid source of comedy and out of her element in normal Squad missions making this a welcome spotlight.

Eduardo Pansica and Julio Ferreira team up for a handful of pages while Dexter Soy handles the majority of the art. It’s annoying when one artist can’t start and finish a title, but that’s the norm for DC these days.

Suicide Squad has been an underrated treat. It’s not doing anything too outlandish and the budding war of Squads definitely is something worth anticipating on the horizon.
