DC Comics reviews 12/14/21 – Wonder Girl #6, Robin and Batman #2

Wonder Girl #6

wonder girl #6

Wonder Girl is starting to become a challenge to fully comprehend. Writer Joelle Jones hastily lays out some major plot points while asking the wader to play catch up.

It means half the issue is over before getting a good sense of the latest predicament Yara Flor has found herself in now. And the random scenes with Donna Troy and the current Wonder Girl come off more like distracting subplots than essential plot points.

Despite the narrative problems, Jones infuses Wonder Girl with so much energy and fun it’s easy to get swept away and worry about the logistics later.

Jones is joined by artist Leila Del Duca and while the sweeping majestic artwork provided by Jones is still missing, Del Duca is a reasonably close substitute. If Jones doesn’t decide to provide art any longer, Del Duca would be a fine replacement thanks to lively action sequences and expressive character portrayals.

Wonder Girl is developing some troubling plot problems, but it remains so entertaining it’s not a problem…for now.
