DC Comics reviews 1/4/22 – Dark Knights of Steel #3, Batman #119
Batman #119
Joshua Williamson continues setting up a fun initial arc on his Batman run.
Lex Luthor is as prickly as ever and the shocking revelation that he has been funding Batman Inc. has Bruce Wayne on edge as his allies are wanted for killing Abyss.
That means Batman’s got to consider temporarily working with Luthor. Thankfully, Williamson hasn’t forgotten the extensive modern history between the two characters.
Batman’s encounter with Abyss is a memorable one that leaves a mark on Batman that promises to have a lasting impact — at least for the next few issues.
Jorge Molina & Adriano Di Benedetto’s art isn’t as polished as the first issue in this arc with rougher looking panels. Mikel Janin’s artwork is more consistent and spotlights the Batman/Luthor confrontation strongly.
This creative run-on Batman has been encouraging and a welcome change of pace from some of the previous teams.
