DC Comics reviews 1/18/22 – Nightwing #88, Catwoman #39

Wonder Woman #783

Wonder-Woman-783

Wonder Woman and Deadman continue fighting the mirror duplicates throughout DC. Meanwhile, Cizko dispatches another emissary to take Diana out.

Writers Michael W. Conrad and Becky Cloonan still haven’t figured out the captivating hook for this issue. They’re butting up against the same problem as many Superman writers — their character is too powerful to be easily defeated making credible challenges difficult. Worse, the arc just feels like it’s dragging on for no discernible purpose.

Marcio Takara’s artwork is highly enjoyable and a major selling point for this arc. The action is intense, but Takara makes the dialogue heavy moments equally compelling.

Wonder Woman’s return to her Earth hasn’t quite taken off like it should as Cloonan and Conrad aren’t making the point of this arc clear.
