DC Comics reviews 1/25/22 – Action Comics #1039, Robin #10

The Flash #778

the flash #778

Flash has his hands and legs full trying to stave off the Eclipso-possessed Justice League Dark.

Writer Jeremy Adams has crafted a strong story that works because this isn’t the norm for Wally West. Magic isn’t in his wheelhouse and battling a team of magic heroes forces him to get very resourceful. The subplot with Irey and Jai takes an unexpected turn that brings them into conflict with some of Wally’s oldest enemies.

The only real problem with this issue was Fernando Pasarin didn’t draw the entire issue. He shares art duties with Brent Peeples. Peeples is a decent artist, but has a less detailed and dynamic style as Pasarin making the transitions to the Jai and Irey subplot very jarring.

Hopefully this was a one-off issue as Pasarin’s art (inked by Matt Ryan and colored by Jeromy Cox) has taken the title to another level.

This has been a fun arc so far and Adams keeps taking some surprising twists that keep it unpredictable in setting up a big confrontation with Eclipso.
