DC Comics reviews 1/25/22 – Action Comics #1039, Robin #10

DC vs. Vampires #4

DC vs Vampires #4

After last issues slightly underwhelming developments, writers James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg raise the stakes (pun intended) this issue.

Batman and Green Arrow have separately set their families against the vampires, but now Oliver Queen is ready to take the fight to The Dark Knight. And Dr. Fate and Constantine join the fray, but what side are they on? There’s still a bit too much emphasis on the Bat Family — Orphan & Red Hood and Nightwing & Batgirl investigate vampire whereabouts, but that’s a minor gripe.

Otto Schmidt’s artwork is terrific. He seems invigorated with this series’ concept and having fun with perspectives and angles in staging the mystery and action.

This maxi-series remains a strong read for fans who want to see an out of continuity story where no one is safe.
