DC Comics review 2/15/22 – Nightwing #89, Detective Comics #1053
Green Lantern #11
Geoffrey Thorne is nearing the conclusion of his first arc. Although it started off promising, the arc has significantly run out of steam and Thorne has been dragging it to the twelfth issue for months now.
The remaining Lanterns, led by Sojourner Mullein and Hal Jordan, get an assist from the Justice League and United Order to take on the corrupted Guardian Koyos.
Koyos’ allies are making that more difficult leading to some decent action scenes.
John Stewart meanwhile is making sense of his ascension, which largely results in a lot of aimless back and forth discussion. And with one more issue to go of this arc, Thorne has to delay the payoff another month.
The art, from Tom Raney and Marco Santucci, is fine despite the noticeable handoff from Raney to Santucci.
Green Lantern feels somewhat aimless right now. Hopefully, with the arc ending next issue, Thorne can find a more compelling direction to take the book going forward.
