DC Comics review 2/15/22 – Nightwing #89, Detective Comics #1053
The Flash #779
The Flash remains one of DC’s most consistently strong titles. Writer Jeremy Adams fully embraces the unique dynamic of Wally West and his superhero life along with his responsibilities as a husband and father.
Flash is running out of ideas in how to stop Starbreaker and Eclipso, who’s also possessed the Justice League Dark so it’s a good thing his kids Irey and Jai arrive along with their pal Maxine. Adams has a fun surprise with Maxine that works well for the title.
While the action might not be the most memorable of this arc, Adams breaks the character dynamics down so well that it works.
The only letdown is once again regular artist Fernando Pasarin splits art duties with Brent Peeples. Peeples is a solid artist, but can’t match the intricate details, captivating layouts and emotions Pasarin and inker Matt Ryan bring out in every page.
This marks the end of the Eclipso arc and Adams already has another exciting development teased up by the end of the issue.
The Flash definitely should be on the short list of must-buy comics for every DC fan and this issue was another fun reminder why.
