Marvel Legends America Chavez review – BAF Rintrah wave
America Chavez has been around the Marvel Comics Universe for just over a decade now. She’s one of the younger characters Marvel is now trying to make important. Her status will likely raise with her role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Packaging: This is the standard Marvel Legends packaging with the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness logo prominent. It’s one of the sharper looking logos so I’m a fan.
The artwork utilizes promotional art, which showcases her just fine. The bio is actually helpful in explaining her power and background for movie audiences.
Likeness: I’m really impressed with the likeness of actress Xochitl Gomez. The sculpt has the subtle intricacies of her face with her nose and lips. America’s hair also looks terrific. It’s got a solid amount of layers and flows naturally.
America’s got an outfit more in line with Superboy in she’s rocking a jean jacket and pants with sneakers. The jean jacket is well detailed with buttons, creases and folds. She’s got a small necklace that’s scaled perfectly for her size.
I also appreciate that she has thighs that don’t look like twigs. Body diversity is useful in the Marvel Legends line even with teens/young adults.
The sculptors didn’t go overboard with the folds in her shirt and pants, which is something that isn’t always the case. This conveys a more realistic look that resembles fabric.
Ditto for her sneakers, with the short socks peeking out. Even if you don’t care about America, she makes for a perfect civilian character.
Paint: Hasbro did good work on the paintjob. There’s a solid amount of distress with the red and white stripes on the jacket giving an authentic well-worn appearance.
The stars on the jacket follow the pattern of the source material although the flame on the right arm should be yellow. We can chalk that up to Hasbro getting early reference material.
The work on her laces is nicely done. That’s always hard to do right if the laces are sculpted in an authentic way.
Scale: From the trailer, America seems to be on the shorter side coming up to about Benedict Cumberbatch’s shoulder.
She’s scaled properly as Gomez is 5’5″ compared to Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch at 5’6″.

Articulation: America lacks the bicep articulation joint that is becoming the norm for female figures in 2022. That’s disappointing since she’s a energy brawling character.
America’s bigger problem though is with the range of her elbows. Obviously she would have benefitted from double-jointed elbows, but the cut of her elbows significantly restricts punching poses.
The rest of her articulation is the norm for Marvel Legends and she holds poses just fine.
America Chavez has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbow
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: America isn’t loaded with accessories. She’s got a pair of swappable open hands. It seems like this would have been a good opportunity for some new power effects.
She does have the most important component of the Build-A-Figure Rintrah with the torso.
Worth it? America was the standard $22.99 price tag. Given her shorter size and lack of accessories, that’s not a great value. Like most 2022 figures, America is probably a better option to get when retailers, specifically Target, has a sale on figures.
Rating: 8 out of 10
America has great detail, but I’ve gotta knock her down some for the poor range of her elbow articulation and lack of extra accessories.
Where to get it? America definitely hasn’t been very hard to find on the pegs. Failing that, you can grab her with no problem from Amazon, Entertainment Earth and Target.
