Duo #4

DUO-4

Duo’s fourth issue continued the trend of each one topping the previous installment. With this issue, writer Greg Pak rolled out a significant portion of Duo’s potential.

David and Kelly are still vying for control of David’s body while two factions — The Immutables and David Tinker’s Tinker Technologies — want David for their own purpose. Pak sets up a worthwhile dilemma if David and Kelly can trust either group than makes it more interesting by having them split on which one to join.

Artist Khoi Pham finally gets to cut loose with the series’ most action-heavy installment yet. Pham rises to the challenge with both the super powered Immutables and Tinker Tech forces in battle and Duo caught in the middle. Scott Hanna’s ink work is inobtrusive and helps bring out the important details while colorist Chris Sotomayor utilizes intense reds and blues for the action.

What’s most compelling about Duo is there isn’t an obvious hero or villain with this power set currently in the Milestone or DC Universe.

This wide-open lane to explore the character and the two in one premise certainly feels like something that could prove to be a long-term successful title if given the proper attention and spotlight.
