Batman Dear Detective #1

Batman Dear Detective isn’t the typical Batman story. It’s a showcase for the gritty, real world covers Lee Bermejo has drawn over the years. Bermejo also crafts the narrative with a series of taunting letters one (or two?) of Batman’s rogues wrote to The Dark Knight.

The manner in which Bermejo writes it seems the letter writer is likely Joker and Riddler. It’s interesting how Bermejo weaves a story from his covers that works with one-page letters spread between 3-4 images.

It’s not for those that don’t appreciate Bermejo’s highly detailed realistic style. For those that like the extra attention Bermejo puts into the details like the leather and armor plating of Batman’s armor.

Dear Detective is a fun way to repurpose and collect Bermejo images in a prestige format for his fans.
