Superman and Lois – Worlds War Bizarre review S2 E14
I don’t think the writers have thought the back end of this season through well enough. Every time they put a priority on telling the truth and no more secrets, it ends horribly.
With the penultimate episode of the season, Chrissy wants to tell Lana everything about the DEO coverup and the fact that Ally is trying to merge her world with the inhabitants of this Earth.
This is ludicrous on so many levels and feels like a clumsy effort of trying to apply real life logic to a show about an alien with heat laser eyes, freeze breath, super speed and flight battling alongside a dude in a suit of armor battling invaders from another planet. Sometimes, just sometimes, it’s OK to just ditch real life applications for one that makes more sense in the structure of this TV series…
I just don’t understand how in the world this is helpful to share with the world at large. Is keeping the population calm and avoiding riots — as we know this would be the actual outcome — truly a bad thing? Lois puts the call on Lana to tell everyone what’s happening.
Clark is struggling to recover. He has John Henry take him to chat with his mother. She doesn’t offer much insight other than to give it time. Could it really take four years for Superman to get his power back? This probably would have been a more interesting path to go at the midway point of the season instead of the drama with Lucy for half the year.

Recovering might take a little more time though now that a square red sun has emerged on the horizon. Ally is talking about merging both worlds on TV, but somehow only Sophie had her TV on to see this message. Smallville isn’t that exciting.
Kyle is back to begging for ways to help Lana. It’s kinda sad as he was such an interesting character and now he’s largely emasculated and boring.
Bizarro Lana comes for Clark, but Jordan makes the save. Well, sorta. He’s still very inept at fighting, which is why it’s good that Steel and Steel II show up. Nat really needs to personalize her costume. It’s like when Wally just rocked the Flash costume when he first started becoming Kid Flash.
Also, it’s weird how Nat has become this genius expert on everything. She is still a teenager yet she’s never wrong just from a lack of experience and could make some bad decisions.
John Henry realizes that too and shuts Nat’s armor down long enough for him to try and take a shot at Ally. Predictably, this doesn’t work out well and Ally shuts off his signal.
Bizarro Jon and Lana arrive at the school to go after the still de-powered Clark and Lana. This gives Jordan has a reason to out his powers in front of Sarah. Clark can’t hang with Bizarro Jon, but Jordan rallies enough to get fully Superboy’d-out to fight them to a standstill. At least long enough for Nat to save the day. This is becoming a regular occurrence on the show. Terrific.
The absolute last thing I wanted from Superman and Lois was Nat and Jordan saving the day against villains that gave Superman trouble all season.
Now, the big payoff for the second to last episode of the season. Sarah is pissed that Lana knew about Clark and Jordan. At least the writers aren’t bothering to make a secret of their priorities… For our actual cliffhanger, the merging has begun, and the “regular” Earth is starting to undergo big time changes.
At this point Ally might just be too powerful for a convincing last second win by Team Superman. Give the writers credit for coming up with a serious season threat for Superman, Steel and crew even if the resolution seems like it’s going to have to play fast and loose with what’s been established so far.
