The Magic Order Vol. 3 #6 review
For the most part the final installment of The Magic Order Vol. 3 plays out like an extended epilogue.
Regan has to face the consequences of his choices while Cordelia agonizes over having to banish her brother from The Order. This is a poignant moment as the two siblings have been incredibly tight since the start of the series. There’s never been a hint of sibling rivalry or animosity between the two so this farewell hit all the right marks and feels genuine rather than some afterthought.
Meanwhile their father, Leonard, travels with Salome to kill the demon that killed her father. This subplot has casually played along the sides while all of the major carnage and chaos has played out in the main arc. It’s nice to see the patriarch of the family have a well-earned peaceful moment with the love of his life returned ready to go on an adventure to avenge his father-in-law.
Artist Gigi Cavenago crafts beautiful, flowing imagery incorporating spells, demons and at least one haunting familiar face. Color choices from Valentina Napolitano are superb with some stunning combinations.

This issue really plays out like a thoughtful introspective wrap to another thrilling volume right up until writer Mark Millar reveals what’s been behind the curtain all along. And it’s a doozy of a twist with some shocking developments that completely upends everything. One twist dates back to the first volume in a nice bit of symmetry.
And unlike previous volumes, there’s no Hail Mary spell to save the day that no one saw coming. This time The Order is at their absolute lowest point as this volume concludes. It’s a bold move — one that absolutely sets the stage for another riveting fourth volume.
It’s not a matter of if Millar can pull this trick off. The Magic Order has always been about narrative sleight of hand to lure readers into thinking the story is going to play out in one direction before he takes them down another, more satisfying path. There’s clearly plenty of magic left in this series.
