DC Comics reviews 1/24/23 – The Human Target #11, Justice Society of America #2
DC Horror Presents Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead #5
The penultimate installment is more of the same from the past four issues. That’s just fine for readers who’ve enjoyed writer Bruce Campbell’s simple premise — easy company plowing through wave after wave of Nazi zombies.
As far as premises go that’s hardly a bad one, but Campbell doesn’t feel the need to make this series especially suspenseful.
Sgt. Rock and company barely use their code names while evading zombie attacks.
Artist Eduardo Risso shows such an incredible command of sequential layouts that it feels like watching a movie play out.
Kristina Rossi knows exactly how much color is necessary in crafting a dark story where blacks and reds are crucial.
Campbell might not stay awake working on huge obstacles for Easy Company but there’s no denying this series has been a fun ride.
