DC Comics reviews 2/28/23 – Batman vs. Robin #5, The Human Target #12
DC Horror Presents Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead #6
Easy Company’s private attack against Hitler’s zombie Nazis reaches its conclusion this issue. Writer Bruce Campbell hasn’t penned a particularly verbose mini-series and he’s even more restrained with the dialogue this issue.
Course, with Sgt. Rock battling a zombified Hitler there’s not much opportunity for a lot of back-and-forth conversation. This puts more of the focus on Eduardo Risso’s artwork for this big showdown. Risso has no problem handling the sequential action needed, crafting violently dynamic panels.
Kristina Rossi’s colors give the issue its proper level of Importance with the war reaching its crescendo.
The only downside is Easy Company doesn’t get much of a focus and Hitler doesn’t put up much of a fight against Rock even jumped up on zombie juice. But do we really want to see a competitive fight against a Nazi? Probably not.
Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the dead was a wild, fun ride with Sgt. Rock vs the undead. Campbell teases a potent sequel, which could be just as exciting a guilty pleasure.
