DC Comics reviews 6/20/23 – Titans #2, Nightwing #105, Wonder Woman #800
Nightwing #105
With full appreciation and acknowledgement of all the artists that have contributed on this run of Nightwing, Bruno Redondo is in the midst of the kind of exemplary creative run that will be a model for many iterations of the character for years to come.
Redondo has already done an issue wide gatefold issue, but this time he attempts a new challenge of drawing the entire issue from Nightwing’s perspective. As I’d the reader were Nightwing beyond segments where he’s looking at a reflective surface.
It’s such a creative approach for a standard comic story.
Adriano Lucas continues to bring gorgeous bright color arrangements that contribute to the fun, comics don’t need to be gloomy for no reason mindset of the title.

Letterer Wes Abbott gets in on the fun too in a subtle manner of not connecting Nightwing’s word bubbles instead detaching them like a person perceives how they sound.
Writer Tom Taylor brings back classic villains Double Dare, who are in with the wrong crowd — led by a pompous billionaire with a grudge against Nightwing. Taylor is connecting threads from previous arcs without making it too obnoxious.
As much fun as the Titans hanging out was over the last few issues, it’s nice that the supporting cast is now just back to Batgirl and Batwing. Taylor shows how a hero relationship can be done right — simply by presenting Dick and Babs as a healthy, supportive and fun pairing.
Maybe the fate of the free DC Universe wasn’t at stake this issue, but it sure is fun to read a comic where the creative team constantly takes chances and nails them every time.
