Marvel Legends Black Panther Legacy Collection Everett Ross review
Since his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Everett Ross has been a significant supporting character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
To get a complete Marvel Legends set of the principal characters from Black Panther, collectors needed to get the Killmonger/Everett Ross two-pack in addition to the Build-A-Figure Okoye wave.
While Killmonger had numerous figures released, that was the only way to get a Ross figure. Hasbro decided to re-release Ross as a standalone figure for the Wakanda Forever focused Build-A-Figure Attuma wave.
Since I skipped the Killmonger/Ross two-pack this was my chance to finally add Ross to my Black Panther display and the clearance price didn’t hurt either.
Packaging: The new windowless packaging isn’t great as it’s thinner and less interesting. It retains the Black Panther purple accent colors against the black. The front features an image of the figure and a photo of Ross from the MCU for reference, but it all feels a bit too cramped and cluttered.
On the right side, there’s a helpful big image of Ross to make it easy to see on the pegs. The back features another image of Ross and the included accessories. That’s somewhat helpful so you can see what’s missing in case swappers already got to it. The big shift with the back package is there’s no longer any bio, which is disappointing.
Likeness: Hasbro instituted face printing right around the first wave of Black Panther figures. The original Ross figure looked good, but this update is a definite improvement with a stronger likeness to actor Martin Freeman.
The rest of the figure is a direct reuse of the previous version, which used the old suit body that’s been in rotation for years. It’s fine for Ross, who isn’t a big dude and should look slighter next to a guy like T’Challa.
Of course, the awkward positioning of the feet make this figure a needlessly tricky figure to pose at times resulting in random drops. Even more annoying is the foot holes don’t make it easier for figure stands to help with his standing challenges.
Scale: Ross wasn’t the tallest dude running around in Black Panther. He was a bit taller than Shuri and looking up at T’Challa.

Paint: One of the main differences from the previous release is the suit, shirt and tie colors. Previously, Ross’ suit was a dark grey with a light blue shirt and black tie. Now his suit is a dark blue and his tie is blue. I appreciate mixing up the suit a bit so you can have two Ross figures in your collection from both films.
There’s not a lot to mess up paint wise with the figure since so much is just one color, I wasn’t shocked that Ross didn’t have any paint problems.
Articulation: This is still the basic suit body so if you’ve got any figures from Ulysees Klaue, Agent Coulson or Stan Lee you know what to expect in terms of movement.
Ross isn’t going to be facing off with any Atlanteans toe to toe, but he can handle himself in traditional point and shoot scenarios. The figure can hold those poses and standard action shots just fine.
Everett Ross has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- butterfly shoulders
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: Ross’ first figure came with the standard small pistol, but this time he gets a gun that seems more fitting for a SHIELD agent.
Quite fitting since it originally came with Quake.
Additionally, Ross is loaded with parts for the Build-A-Figure Attuma. He’s got the right arm, bladed spear and club. Not a bad BAF haul.
Worth It? Like the other figures in this wave, Ross started off at the typical $24.99 Marvel Legends price tag. For that price, I wasn’t biting, but when he hit clearance at Target for $6.89, I couldn’t resist.
While the box was battered beyond belief, I was able to get a solid ML for less than $10. Although you’ll pay a little more, Ross is available on Amazon now for $16.99 and anytime you can get a Marvel Legends for under the old $20 it’s a good deal.
Rating: 8 out of 10
Ross would be a standout figure if he was using a more reliable suit mold that didn’t need so much effort to find its best standing sweet spot. The price definitely helps improve his overall score.
Where to Get It? I’d try Target first to see if you can still get him for the clearance price. Failing that, go with Amazon for the cheaper retail price or you can go the Entertainment Earth route.
