Star Wars The Black Series Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Cassian Andor review
Even before Andor leaped right near the top of the Star Wars Disney+ lineup, Cassian Andor was one of my favorite Rebel scoundrel characters.
Cassian was a cool, edgy guy who didn’t care about getting his hands dirty of it meant advancing the Rebel cause. He was a standout in Rogue One and his own series has helped make him one of the more nuanced Star Wars characters period. There’s plenty of time to break down Andor and the upcoming figures. This time I’m looking at Cassian’s main Rogue One look from the best spinoff Star Wars film.
Packaging: I love the updated setup with distinct accent colors for each film/series. Rogue One has a duck egg blue shade. Cassian is fittingly number two in the side mural behind Jyn Erso.
His bio speaks to Cassian’s established role in the Rebellion and how vital he’s been to the cause thanks to his resourcefulness.
Likeness: Cassian rocked several attires during Rogue One. For the figure we get his mostly default Rebel attire with the brown leather jacket, green pants and black boots.
As usual for the line Cassian’s jacket has a ton of texturing and detail from the ridges to stitching and Rebel Alliance rankings. His pants aren’t as detailed but look good while the boots feature some nice unique sculpting.
The likeness to Diego Luna isn’t perfect, but thanks to an influx of Andor product we’re likely to get a head sculpt that works better. This is a major improvement over the first crack at this look as it features better photo real face printing.
Paint: Along with the face printing head sculpt, Cassian has a sharper, more focused paint job. This is especially evident with the facial hair with Cassian’s trimmed beard.
The rest of the figure is fine with the brown flight jacket with precise work on the small details like the silver and blue Rebel rank strips.
I rarely have issues with Black Series figures suffering from bad or even remotely shoddy paintjobs. Cassian is another immaculate figure on that front for Hasbro.
There’s some scraping on the neck joint so a noticeable amount of paint is missing. It’s less obvious based on how I positioned Cassian’s head at least.

Scale: Cassian should stand taller than Jyn and shorter than K-2S0. He should be about eye to eye with Baze, Bodhi and the Chirrut Îmwe figures.
Articulation: Cassian needs to be able to move smoothly. He’s no Jedi, but he’s athletic enough to hop onto gantry platforms and scale walls in addition to bobbing and weaving during firefights.
Ideally these figures would have bicep articulation to add another level to aiming blaster shots. His articulation is dated from the original release and lacks the much-improved range of motion of current figures so there’s some limitations in terms of getting authentic right from the film looking poses.
Cassian Andor has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbow (with swivel)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Cassian comes with his modular blaster, perfect for sniping Imperial officers or Deathtroopers.
It is a highly detailed blaster with an impressive level of sculpting perfectly matching the source material.
Hasbro retained the functionality of the blaster so the main portion fits in the holster while the two add-ons can simply be plugged in.
Worth it? I really played the long game with all of the Rogue One characters hoping they would eventually hit clearance prices or some deep discount by the end of 2022.
That worked out for Cassian, who I was able to grab for $12. Anytime you can pay half of the regular asking price for Black Series figures you’re winning. You can get him now for $10.88, which is a still a great deal for a Black Series figure.
Rating: 8 out of 10
Cassian is a really decent figure held back slightly by a not quite dead-on likeness and dated articulation.
Where to get it? All of the Rogue One figures are going to be hard to find at retail save for GameStop. You can still easily get Cassian at Amazon.
