Resident Evil 4 gets new story with Separate Ways DLC this week

Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite video games of all time so I’m always down for any expansion of that story. Capcom announced a new DLC, Separate Ways, will be coming this Thursday.

Separate Ways takes a Resident Evil 2 approach with a branching storyline focuses on Ada Wong. While on her own assignment, she once again reunites with Leon S. Kennedy while he searches for Ashley, the president’s daughter.

Here’s Capcom’s official synopsis:

In Separate Ways, Ada Wong travels to a lonely and rural part of Europe to infiltrate a village controlled by the religious group known as Los Iluminados. Under orders from Albert Wesker, Ada is assigned to obtain the cult’s darkest secret: a mysterious material known as “the Amber.” Her operation intertwines with Leon S. Kennedy’s search for the president’s missing daughter, providing an alternate perspective on the main story that uncovers events that unfold behind the scenes.

For this exhilarating mission, Ada is armed with a Grappling Gun that can be used to swing across chasms, make rapid ascents, and plunge into the depths below. She can also wield the device in combat to take on enemies in close quarters and launch into melee takedowns from a distance.

Additionally, Capcom is offering a free update for The Mercenaries that will make Ada and Albert Wesker as playable characters in the extra mode.

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode is also getting added to PlayStation VR2 this winter as free DLC. VR2 Sense allows for dual wielding, enhanced weapon handling, knife action and more.

You can grab Separate Ways for $10 across PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam this Thursday.

What do you think of this DLC? Planning to get it or waiting to see what else Capcom will unveil for RE4?
