Marvel Legends Crossfire review – Build-A-Figure Cassie Lang wave
Crossfire is exactly the kind of character I wish we’d see more of in Marvel Legends. He’s a decent B+ villain who can be a problem/major nuisance for a hero without being a world dominator. And he’s had beef with a number of heroes so he’s a versatile punching bag.
He’s the best kind of villain as a mercenary so he can be all over the place battling pretty much anyone. He wasn’t on my Top 100 list, but Crossfire is a welcome addition to the lineup as one of the few comic book figures in the Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania wave.
Let’s see if he hits the target or is just firing blanks.
Packaging: Crossfire uses the thankfully now defunct closed window Marvel Legends. The artwork is repeated on the front and the sides and was pretty consistently one of the initial Google result images for him.
On the right side we get the rollout of which figures comes with what part of the Build-A-Figure Cassie Lang.
The back remains boring with just an image of the figure, the accessories and BAF part. The bios were never the line’s strong suit, but something is better than the nothing presented here.
Likeness: Crossfire has a fairly clean and basic outfit with the only distinct elements his crossed-out eye patch, wrap style helmet and cross on his belt. I love the detail on the eye patch, which is sculpted over his eye providing a sense of depth for it.
His expression is calm and reserved, ideal for a sniper mercenary.
Crossfire is using the Spider-Man UK mold, which gives him a formidable look without transforming him into a walking tank. This is a guy who looks comfortable battling Hawkeye and Moon Knight.

Paint: Crossfire doesn’t have an overly involved costume. It’s basically just a few white strips along the mostly red costume. White doesn’t play well with most colors allowing for easy bleeding and challenges in maintaining firm, crisp lines. That’s the case to a decent degree here. In just about every case with white as the non-dominant base color, the other color comes through especially with a dark color like red.
As always, the whites could use another paint application or two to eliminate the bleed through, but that doesn’t always work within the budget. Not surprisingly the white portions of the costume that are sculpted — the head and belt — don’t have any problems maintaining the white.
I really liked the work done on his head sculpt. The eye patch paintwork is crisp and the face printing is solid as well with just a hint of a five o’clock shadow.
Scale: The UK body is a good size for an athletic dude without being overly bulky. It’s about the same height as the Bucky Cap mold just with wider and better proportions.
Articulation: Crossfire is a weapons expert who favors using a rifle to take out his targets.
The Spider-Man UK mold is a terrific, sturdy mold with good range for most poses. It lacks butterfly joints like some of the newer molds, but it’s not challenging to get good, expressive poses.
Most importantly, Crossfire can nail that sniper pose.
Articulation wise, you kinda know what to expect with a solid Marvel Legends figure. He doesn’t have any loose or gummy joints so he can hold poses for a good amount of time.
Crossfire has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- butterfly shoulders
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- upper torso
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- boot
- ankle
Accessories: Crossfire comes with the sniper rifle last used with the Yelena Belova figure. It’s fairly well detailed and is a better fit for Crossfire than Yelena.
He also gets the firing blast effect. It’s a translucent yellow piece.
Additionally, Crossfire has the vapor trail after the shots been fired.
While he’s more of a shooter, Crossfire also comes with a pair of swappable fists. Nice to have the option I suppose, but I’d rather Hasbro threw in a few more guns for him.
Finally, he comes with the left leg for the Build-A-Figure Cassie Lang.
Worth it? I picked up Crossfire from Hasbro Pulse on sale for $17. I’ve got no major issues with him as he’s a solidly constructed figure with a decent amount of accessories.
Rating: 9 out of 10
With a tighter paintjob and a few more guns, Crossfire would be a perfectly executed figure.
