Batman and Robin 2024 Annual #1

Batman and Robin take a road trip that goes bad when a supervillain is using the camping grounds as a Hunting Party.

Writer Joshua Williamson comes up with a fun premise for this father and son getaway. Having Bruce and Damian operate “undercover” without access to all of their gadgets and costume intimidation factor should put them at a disadvantage, but Williamson shows how less resources makes for a nice bonding moment.

Howard Porter handles the art for the annual. Porter’s art lacks the polish from a few years ago when he was partnering with Williamson on The Flash. His storytelling instincts are still there, but character faces are less defined and backgrounds look murky with confusing perspectives.

It’s a breezy, annual style story, but that doesn’t take away from it being fun. Even with the inconsistent art, this was a fun entry with this week’s releases.
