Star Wars The Black Series Padawan Ahsoka Tano – Clone Wars review
Ahsoka Tano was easily my least favorite character in the post-prequel Star Wars era. At least from her debut in the Clone Wars movie. Now, I’m a huge fan of Anakin’s apprentice from her stints in the rest of Clone Wars, Rebels and now her live-action Disney+ series.
Still, a big hole in my collection was getting Padawan Ahsoka in my growing Star Wars Black Series Clone Wars collection.
Let’s see if this take of Snips is ready for a prime spot in my Clone Wars display.
Packaging: While this set had the closed packaging treatment, I do dig the overall presentation of the Star Wars packaging. That’s largely due to the otherwise consistent setup. Ahsoka has a nice heroic pose on the front and the black packaging is accented by the Clone Wars yellow gold color scheme.
Over on the left side is the continuation of the mural. Ahsoka is No. 13 in the Clone Wars setup. The bio is smartly written from the perspective of Ahsoka’s start in the Clone Wars and being Anakin’s Padawan Learner. I wish more of Hasbro’s lines would just add this style of bio to all of the packaging.
Likeness: I really dig the head sculpt as it’s very consistent with the Clone Wars Season 7 figure. This one looks younger while still maintaining the same striking features. There’s a nice fierce, innocence to her that’s very effective in conveying her personality at this point in Clone Wars.
I actually dig her slight frame with thin arms and legs as it looks fitting for a younger pre-teen girl. And her head is a little rounder suggesting the rest of her body hasn’t caught up in size yet. The back also features Ahsoka’s jeweled padawan “braid.”
Her outfit is based on Ahsoka’s Season 3-6 attire. I don’t hate the first one, but I like the slightly more geared up for any battlefield costume with the arm wraps and forearm guards — one of the sharper elements of the sculpt. Ahsoka also ditched the tube top for a full shirt and a necklace with a diamond shaped centerpiece.
She’s rocking an X-style belt with a flap that has some decent texturing. More impressive is the pants, which feature diamond cutouts that are actually sculpted instead of covered by paint.
That’s the kind of dedicated sculpting effort that really makes a figure stand out. Her boot guards also feature a leather-y type texture. Padawan Ahsoka is small, but she features one of the best sculpts in the Black Series line. That’s fitting for such an important character.
Paint: My main gripe with the closed window was the inability to see the figure and catch any flaws. Typically, shoddy paint jobs aren’t a common issue with the Black Series.
Padawan Ahsoka continues that trend even with more potential for problematic areas. The jewel “tiara” framing her head has sharp gold paint with no overspray. Her lekku has excellent paintwork as well with the tiny exception of a stray dot of blue on the white.
No problems on her arm and the potentially very tricky pants with the skin showing was flawless. Again, stellar work from the Star Wars team.

Scale: At this stage, Padawan Ahsoka was much shorter than Anakin Skywalker, Plo Kloon and the other Jedi head honchos. Hasbro has done a solid job of staying true to the appropriate heights of the characters so she lines up correctly.
Articulation: Ahsoka is a quick strike, bouncing around type fighter who utilizes her speed and lack of size to overcome more physically imposing opponents.
She’s got decent forward and back range in her torso.
Ahsoka can also do a full split. The only tricky thing with her is her dainty feet don’t provide a very strong base. Finding a good foot stand will be very useful in hitting more dramatic leaning/crouching poses.
The skirt is made of a soft enough plastic that it’s not too restrictive yet doing kicks will still prove difficult because the feet don’t offer much of a foundation.
Her butterfly shoulders help with more sweeping poses although that range is somewhat limited.
Padawan Ahsoka Tano has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders (butterfly joints)
- elbow
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- hips
- thighs
- knees
- ankles
Accessories: Ahsoka comes with her two distinct lightsabers. The details are the same, but one has a much longer blade allowing Ahsoka to fight from a distance. The green hue is vibrant while keeping enough of a translucent sheen to give it the best toy lightsaber appearance.
That’s it for Ahsoka’s accessories.
Worth it? Padawan Ahsoka clocked in at $25. Yes, she’s smaller than most BS figures, but thanks to the tremendous execution and effort put into the sculpt, I don’t feel ripped off. Even with the minimal accessories.
Rating: 10 out of 10
I couldn’t dock half a point for her feet as I could still get some fun poses achieved. Padawan Ahsoka is an excellent example of how Hasbro should be handling all the figures in the line,
