G.I. Joe Classified Series Agent Helix review
Agent Helix seems like a new G.I. Joe even though she’s been around since 2009. She was part of the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra movie line. Hasbro managed to sneak in some new Joes that more or less fit in with the movie aesthetic. Unlike the rest of that era’s new Joes, Helix had a fan in legendary Joe writer Larry Hama, who began incorporating her into his comic stories.
Now she’s a core member of the modern Joe stories Hama is writing over at Skybound/Image.
Helix has a cool look and makes sense to include in the Classified Series line. While she cut the line on Jinx (available forpre-order on Amazon), who is coming, Agent Helix is a very worthy addition. Let’s see if Hasbro delivered on the Joe’s whirlwind specialist.
Packaging: In a rare goof from the Classified Series, Helix’s background image features a S.W.A.T. team van, which seems more fitting for wave mate Shockwave.
It seems like she was supposed to have the mountain background for her packaging. The rest is standard for the closed window presentation — white stripe of accessories and the drawing in the bottom right.
Over on the left side, we get her portrait and the QR Code that just goes to shophasbro.com. The right side features a color portrait of the drawing. Along the back, we see close ups of certain details and the accessories. As well as a much better break down of her skill sets.
Agent Helix scores a four marksman, a three in martial arts and two in covert ops and light weapons.
Her bio states: An Alpha-Level G.I. Joe Operative bent on stopping the rise of Cobra, she sees the world in data sets that allow her to anticipate the probable outcomes of any action. Her distinctive “whirlwind attack” is an overpowering combination of kicks and firepower utilizing her Olympic-class gymnastic abilities.
Likeness: Hasbro hasn’t done a lot of Helix figures so there’s only one to compare her against. She’s got an outstanding head sculpt where she’s attractive, but still looks like a bada$$. The hair has a great flow without being posed too dramatic.
If you owned the 3.75 version, this is basically a more detailed, elaborate version with enhanced sculpting and superior articulation. Helix has a great design with various straps and paneling along her outfit, some light armor protection around her waist and a belt loaded with spare ammo clips and a pair of grenades.
Without even needing to change up much, Helix uses the lower portion of the Scarlett figure (on Amazon #ad) — a tremendous base for reuse.
Paint: Helix’s head sculpt paintjob is exceptionally done. Hasbro’s got the right blend of makeup for female figures to make them look feminine without suggesting they’re toying with their Instagram filters.
Helix is typically portrayed with more of her darker roots showing. That lends itself more to the cyber punk vibe she’s got going. There is some fading around her part and a black strand across her face, but it’s not nearly as black as the package render showed.
Precise details like the buckles and clips are fine. There’s some light bleeding of the greys into her yellow outfit.
And she’s got a fun pink tattoo on her left wrist.

Scale: Agent Helix shows how Hasbro has been diversifying female bodies. She’s taller than Shooter yet shorter than Cover Girl. I appreciate that they’re not all the same height.
Articulation: Hasbro is another winner in the smart, hyper articulation we’re getting out of the Classified Series line.
She can hit a number of fun poses to make great use of her whirlwind attacks.
Thankfully, Helix’s joints are nice and tight to hold the deeper crouching poses.
Agent Helix has:
- head
- neck
- shoulders (butterfly)
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- mid-torso
- torso
- waist
- hips (ball-jointed)
- drop down hips
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Agent Helix has an impressive load out of weapons. Even better, she can store all of her gear.
First up, she has her signature dual 10mm auto pistols with extended clips. They’re cast in a dark grey as a compromise of sorts from the original’s light grey color.
Next, she’s got two katanas, which are reused from the Storm Shadow movie figure. The yellow handle and black blades are a nice touch. To store the katanas, she’s also got a plug-in type of plate with loops in place of sheathes.
This can actually peg into Helix’s back deep enough that it’s not flying off with any posing.
Like her original figure, Agent Helix also gets a machete. This time the blade features a more pronounced curve and looks like it would do some serious damage. It fits into a loop on her belt.
Finally, she’s got a pair of mantis blades. These have good articulation and paintwork with the base a dull grey and the blade an almost silver lighter shade.
The blade brace can rotate so they can be positioned over her forearms or under them. They can get a bit loose and will need some adjustments to stay snugly on the forearms.
Worth It? Agent Helix is $24.99. Given the number of accessories and tremendous sculpting, it’s hard to argue you’re not getting your money’s worth.
Rating: 9.7 out of 10
Agent Helix is another winner in the Classified Series line. She’s so well executed and has me excited about Hasbro tackling more relatively new Joes and Cobras. I just wish we got more black shading in her hair.
Where to Get It? Agent Helix isn’t at many physical retailers these days. She is available on Amazon and Entertainment Earth
