Jada Toys Mega Man review
Mega Man 2 was the source of many a video game frustrations for me. The spastic platform jumping rattles my nerves something fierce. I kept the patience with Mega Man though as the satisfaction of easily defeating a boss thanks to a new powerup weapon was immense.
A number of companies have tackled Mega Man figures, but I hadn’t started a collection until Jada Toys rolled out their version. Given the strong work on the Street Fighter figures, I’ve got high expectations for this line.
Let’s see if Mega Man is the start of yet another line Jada Toys will suck me into as this year continues.
Packaging: I love the personal touches to the packaging, Jada adds. Mega Man wasn’t an arcade staple so there wasn’t any need to do an arcade cabinet. Instead, Jada opted for a setup reminiscent of the loading screen with an energy bar on the left side. They also added a portrait of an intense Mega Man aiming his Mega Buster. Both sides feature vintage game images of MM.
I’d love for Jada to add a touch of creativity with the back with a bio card or some cool images of the figure in action poses. Instead, it’s just a basic shot showing off most of the accessories.
Likeness: Initially Mega Man’s box art featured him holding his blaster. By Mega Man 3 and 4, Capcom added more detail to the boots and gauntlet. It wasn’t until Mega Man 5 where Capcom seemed to settle on his signature look with less detailed boots, gauntlets and Mega Buster.
Jada sculpted the figure with a minimal approach while getting all the essential design elements down perfectly. Even for things that could be skipped without much issue like the red energy ports on the bottom of his boots.
Paint: Outside of some random paint flaking, I haven’t had any issue with paint work. With the MM characters that should be even less of an issue given the simple character designs. The light blue main body is the right hue with a darker blue for the helmet, gauntlets, trunks and boots. I can’t figure out why his lower torso is a different shade of blue, however.
His helmet, gauntlet, trunks and boots all have a glossy sheen to them while the lighter armored sections are more of a flat blue.
All of the paintwork is exceptionally clean right down to the irises of his eyes.

Scale: The scale really will come into play when I start getting more of Dr. Wily’s robots to battle Mega Man. From shots of upcoming figures, it looks like the scale is ideal to pair up with the Street Fighter figures as well.
Articulation: Depending on your game preference, Mega Man doesn’t need too much articulation. But like all these Jada Toys figures I’ve been getting lately; he’s packed with an impressive amount of poseability.
Jada does a great job of hiding some of the articulation points and setting the joints deep enough to get a superior range in the movements.
Mega Man has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbow
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: Like Mega Man gets a generous number of accessories. First up is his signature Mega Buster. You can swap it with either forearm.
It’s got a sculpted mid-section for the energy read-outs as well. That’s a cool touch.
Next is swappable hands with the fingers outstretched.
To showcase him in action a little, Jada also gave Mega Man a translucent orange yellow energy burst as a pulse from the Mega Buster. While it doesn’t plug into the Buster, it does affix to an articulated stand to simulate him firing away. That’s a fun thoughtful accessory inclusion.
Finally, he’s got an alternate head — a focused teeth gritted expression that probably works best when he’s firing the Mega Buster. That’s the kind of additional accessory that keeps taking Jada Toys offerings to another level.
Worth it? Depending on the retailer, you can get Mega Man for as low as $19.99 or as high as $21.99. Jada Toys is really delivering high-end figures for an incredibly reasonable price point.
Rating: 10 out of 10
Yep, I’m definitely solidly all in with this line. Jada Toys is surpassing the hype and this Mega Man really has me excited to get all of the Evil Bots to battle him.
