Like any worthwhile DC mega-event there’s a slew of tie-in books of varying quality.

Superman has quickly established pushed itself as one of the essential tie-ins with a plot tightly linked to the overall main story.
After losing the Fortress of Solitude and learning Amanda Waller has corrupted Jon, Superman escapes with Zatanna to secure another kind of assistance. Why does it have to be magic?

Writer Joshua Williamson has had little trouble coming up with fresh challenges for Superman. Zatanna isn’t a common team-up partner for Superman so this is a fun pairing as well. Williamson is be to make Superman vulnerable while still being the DC Universe’s greatest hero. That does t mean he can’t be human and give in to his emotions either.

Lois Lane managed to rescue Jimmy Olsen, Silver Banshee, Lena and an amnesiac Lex Luthor from Waller’s clutches. Lex with no memory of his crooked past is interesting and a plot point Williamson should have fun exploring.

Jamal Campbell’s artwork is mesmerizing. He’s a comic book artist who crafts gorgeous art at least once every issue. The rich color choices and dramatic perspectives add such vitality to the story. Ariana Maher’s lettering and sound effect font choices are strong complement elements as well.

Superman #17 is a crucial Absolute Power tie-in and the cliffhanger opens up some tantalizing directions for the rest of this arc.
