Star Wars The Black Series 0-0-0 review
0-0-0 was Doctor Aphra’s less than faithful protocol droid accompanying her on several missions. The twist for Triple Zero was that unlike the fussy C-3P0, 0-0-0 was a cold, callous droid he specialized in torture.
I dug the contrast with 0-0-0 & BT-1 compared to Luke Skywalker’s two far more trustworthy and loyal droids. I missed my chance at them earlier and greatly appreciated Hasbro re-releasing them for Black Series collectors who struck out the first time.
Let’s find out if 0-0-0 is a worthwhile reissue or if I need to have its memory wiped in the back of my collection.
Packaging: The Aphra wave was the final stretch of figures that used the original black and red packaging. While there’s some aspects that’s fun like the greyscale image of 0-0-0 and the numbers on the left side, I do love the modern packaging with the mural image.
0-0-0 has a bio that spells out his important aspects as a character including being the one that activates BT-1.
Likeness: In the obvious ways, 0-0-0 is a repaint of the Black Series C-3P0. There was no reason to create a new mold for him after all. And it works just fine for 0-0-0 with its slender build hiding the fact that he is a very formidable threat.
One very obvious difference is the hands, which have all kinds of torture/interrogation devices in the fingers.
Some of those devices include drills, a buzz saw, knives and a laser torch? Dangerous stuff.
Paint: Like his astromech counterpart, 0-0-0 is painted in a dark gun metal.
He’s got more wear and tear with various silver scrapes along the body. It’s done just right so there’s not too much, but also not so few that the silver scrapes look accidental.
His eyes have that evil dark red — he’s an Imperial droid after all. 0-0-0’s lower torso has the familiar array of exposed wiring with some silver and red tubes. His fingers are largely gunmetal with silver tips save the laser torch red one.

Scale: 0-0-0 is about the same height as Doctor Aphra. They line up about right although it seems like 0-0-0 could stand to be a little taller to measure up more to the height of C-3P0.
Articulation: While he might be a killer droid, he’s not hopping around like a Jedi.
He’s more of a surgeon carefully stalking his prey while BT-1 does the bombarding and spastic attacks. He’s got all the functional articulation he needs with the arms and elbows setup and just enough range with his hips and knees to properly convey his style of movement.
0-0-0 has:
- head
- shoulders
- elbows
- torso
- hips
- knees
Accessories: Hasbro didn’t have a lot of accessory options for 0-0-0, but they did include basic hands for those rare moments when he’s not interrogating subjects.
Worth it? He’s the standard Black Series cost of $25. That’s a lot better than paying secondary market prices for him so I won’t complain at all.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
0-0-0 isn’t a flashy figure and it’d be pretty hard for Hasbro to do more with him outside of possibly scaling him up just a bit taller.
Where to Get It? The droids are limited to Hasbro’s online retail partners like Amazon. He’s currently sold out at Entertainment Earth.
