DC Comics reviews 10/24/24 – Absolute Wonder Woman #1, Superman #19
Green Arrow #17
The All-In kickoff is a basic one allowing readers to get a refresh on Oliver Queen’s massive role during Absolute Power — the lengths he went to keep his family and friends safe and how he’s likely No. 1 on Amanda Walker’s list.
To a degree, writer Joshua Williamson uses this issue as an epilogue to the big summer event and allowing Green Arrow the luxury of a victory lap. That’s not always easy when surrounded by peers like Superman and Green Lantern. Green Arrow didn’t need a major status quo change and this issue largely refreshes the stakes for the Arrow family.
Artist Amancay Nahuelpan is a solid artist choice to take on penciling duties. Nahuelpan has a clean style with strong dramatic instincts to visually tell a compelling story. Colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. makes the heavy use of green work while navigating a slightly darker tone. Letterer Troy Petiri gives the right emphasis on character emotions as well.
Green Arrow has been a terrific book since its latest relaunch. Readers who might have missed out earlier have an easy and entertaining jumping on point with this installment.
