WWE Elite Series 91 Kevin Owens figure review
Kevin Owens has been a very consistent member of the WWE roster since being “called up” from NXT. He’s had a number of Elite figures since his Elite 41 figure, but I decided 50 waves was enough time to get an updated version.
There’s been a bunch of cool Owens figures, but I kept waiting too long and he eventually sold out in short order. With a great opportunity to get the latest Owens, it was time to Buy Owens Buy. Let’s see if this update was worth the effort.
Packaging: Mattel did its traditional bi-annual packaging change. It’s a lot busier than the previous setup and I like the fresh mix of colors incorporating blue and black to refresh the white and red color schemes.
It does feel overly busy and doesn’t provide the clearest view of the figure, but it’s better than having a closed box where you can’t see anything.
Shifting packages means the reference photo on the right side is gone. There’s still a reference photo, but now it’s just on the back.
With a current member of the roster, the bio doesn’t have to be nearly as comprehensive as it’s best used to summarize the reference attire. In this case it’s when Owens took on the Tribal Chief himself at Royal Rumble 2021.
Likeness: Over the years, Mattel’s sculpting has vastly improved. Taking a break between modern figures is helpful to really appreciate how far Mattel has come with the True FX sculpting.
It’s no contest in terms of the likeness from the Elite 91 figure to the Elite 41 figure, which wasn’t awful.
Mattel nailed Owens scrawly thick beard, the raised hair up front all while conveying Owens’ smug confidence.
As usual, I don’t love the plastic shirt and would prefer Mattel just went with a thicker torso and a cloth shirt especially since they’ve been better at incorporating detail into cloth shirts
Scale: Owens isn’t a towering giant at 6’ so he’s looking up at guys like the 6’3″ Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. He should be about eye level to the 5’11” Big E and the same height as Kofi Kingston.
While the height checks out, the scaling seems off as Owens looks so slight next to the UE Roman Reigns that he almost doesn’t look like he belongs in the same line.

Paint: Since it’s been a while since I got Owens, but the basic formula is the same.
Owens’ shirt is a bit more complicated, but it was still annoying to see so much of the black come through on the yellow lettering. It’s one of those deals where the shirt can just show some wear and tear, which is fine, but the actual figure should have that lettering clean. The lettering on his shorts and his blue laces are much cleaner.
Mattel did a nice job on the tampo with the Owens’ likeness. That’s good work for this scale. Also, the work on Owens’ tattoos is nice especially as you get closer to really make out the various animals on his arms.
Articulation: Another reason for the Owens upgrade is this is the first to utilize double-jointed elbows. That makes his Stunners far easier to execute as well as moves like his pop-up powerbomb.
Still, the plastic shirt does create some restrictions, which is annoying at this point since we know there’s a better alternative.
Kevin Owens has:
- neck
- bicep
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbows (double-jointed)
- wrists
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Mattel is inconsistent with accessory value for figures, but Owens comes loaded with a slew of quality offerings.
Owens comes with the smaller scale ladder. That’s a nice addition for him. Additionally, he comes with a swappable set of gripping hands for dramatically slo-mo walking up the ladder.
Finally, he comes with a pair of handcuffs, which Reigns and Paul Heyman used to incapacitate him during the Royal Rumble match.
Worth it? The WWE figures are now bumped up to $21.99, but Deep Discount.com had a massive sale on figures where they were basically “giving” figures away. I got Owens for $8, which was a steal especially for a recent WWE figure.
Rating: 7.5 out of 10
I like this KO figure on its own. It’s just things become problematic putting him around other figures where he looks too small and can’t pose as well as others.
Where to get it? Elite 91 hit Target in a special Wrestlemania aisle display, but that’s largely picked over and Target hasn’t done a ton of refreshing of that wave as its moved on to Elite 92.
