Image Comics reviews 12/26/24 – GI Joe Real American Hero #313, Void Rivals #15
Geiger #9
Geiger #9 saw the conclusion to the two-part mini-arc where Geiger and his allies find a hidden sanctuary that’s gone untainted in the Great War. After a difference in philosophies, Geiger, Nate the Nuclear Knight, Barney and Zigzag are leaving when the New King arrives.
Writer Geoff Johns shows that Tariq’s enemies are getting smarter using tactics that proved efficient in slowing him down earlier. Geiger always has the rage out trump card, but this time it not only threatens the New King’s army, but the sanctuary that took Tariq and his friends in. And it might take Nate to save the day after all.

Johns is building up some credible or at least seemingly tough villains though it seems building a formidable rogues gallery for Geiger won’t be possible due to his means of defeating his enemies.
Artist Paul Pelletier does a fine job playing out all the action in this installment. Pelletier is a smooth artist and the action panels are clean and easy to follow what’s happening. Colorist John Kalisz does excellent work with the lighting effects of Geiger, which is always a pivotal point in coloring this title.
Like Redcoat #8, this issue teased a significant collision of several major players in the Unknown War timeline. Something huge is about to development in this section of the Ghost Machine titles and seems like it’s going to be pretty exciting.
