Marvel Legends Logan and Sabretooth review (2024)
Logan and Sabretooth are two of the Marvel Comics Universe’s longest rivals. It helps when they’re both notoriously hard to kill. For Wolverine’s 50th anniversary, the Marvel Legends team decided to create four two-packs based on key moments of his classic run. The set featured some cool pairings, but by far the most anticipated was the Logan and Sabretooth pack.
That was in no small part due to the significant upgrade for Sabretooth, which gave Wolverine’s archenemy the imposing presence his previous figures lacked.
This one took a while for me to get after the initial sellout so I was thrilled when it finally showed up in my processing orders. Let’s see if this two-pack is sharp enough or are both figures dull and uninspired.
Packaging: This Wolverine anniversary series stays fairly close to the traditional Marvel Legends packaging.
It’s got a big wide window showcasing the characters and brown for the accent color against the black. On either side is a cool slash mark signaling their claw strikes. One side features Wolverine and the other Sabretooth.
The back shows artwork by Adam Kubert and Brad Walker inspired by the figures and one of the earlier showdowns between the two in Wolverine #10. In a nice departure from the norm, there’s a solid bio write up as well.
I really dig that the interior package art features a plethora of Logan and Sabretooth face offs.
Likeness: This version of Wolverine features him “off-duty” in card playing/bar hopping attire. He’s sporting a cowboy hat and a button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms.
Logan has two portraits with just a slight change to his expression. The default one isn’t as interesting as the the alternate, but it’s fine for a focused, curled up to the bar portrait. His default hands have the claws extended. These claws are pretty well done with just the right length, width and shape.
Since I didn’t get the tank top Logan (available on Amazon), I’m happy to have this as my Avengers poker night Logan.
For Sabretooth, the ML team had to do a bit more work. The previous figure in the BAF Apocalypse wave was solid when it debuted, but the old Hyperion mold hasn’t aged well. While I would have nominated his original costume as more immediately in need of a redo, the Jim Lee redesign aged out enough to warrant improving first.
For this one, the ML team gave Sabretooth the new Omega Red body. It’s beefy and taller for more imposing characters. Victor Creed definitely fits that bill.
He’s got a more prominent ‘mane’ around his shoulders with the peak reaching the top of his headgear. His default head sculpt features him in full on attack mode with an intense expression and his fangs showing. The base claw hands look like they would do some serious damage to his victims.

Paint: Logan had very clean paint apps. There wasn’t a whole lot to botch and Hasbro’s ML team showed off with the inclusion of his chest and forearm hair.
The smaller detail aspects like the buttons on his shirt and belt buckle turned out very clean. Special shout out to the ML team for taking the time to paint the joint connecting his elbow and forearm to properly match up with the shirt.
That would have looked bad if treated the normal way and it was a welcome step to see the ML team making that extra effort.
Sabretooth also had a very clean paintjob with no issues with the cowl portion leaking any brown or his eyebrows not being fully covered.
The stripes on his outfit are solid and the light brown of his mane looks like it has some shading or a wash.
Both figures benefit from these quality paint jobs.
Scale: Logan and Sabretooth match up well scale-wise with Sabretooth towering over Wolverine. Sabretooth also still is taller than Maverick, who isn’t as short as Wolverine.
Articulation: Logan and Sabretooth sport the typical Marvel Legends articulation allowing them to pull off all of the essential poses you’d expect from them.
Logan has tilting upper torso, which is great for a character with edged weapons like swords or claws. That would be a great articulation point for Sabretooth.
Creed does have butterfly shoulders, so he won’t have any issues rearing back to unleash a massive claw strike at an unsuspecting victim.
Logan lacks that as well as a smooth looking double-jointed elbow flow. It looks pretty janky and when all three points are articulated creates really bad gaps in his arm.
Logan and Sabretooth have:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders (butterfly joints – Sabretooth only)
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: Logan and Sabretooth don’t have a ton of accessories, but they have all of the useful ones.
Logan comes with a pair of cards, which look like a solid painted up version of Gambit’s cards.
He also has a set of open hands to hold cards and a possible beer. In a fun extra, Hasbro gave Logan another portrait. This one has a black hat with a smirk like he’s just got a winning hand.
Sabretooth has less, but again what he has is the essential add-ons. He also has a secondary portrait — this one the psychotic smiling face like he’s finally tracked down his prey. This is more in line of what I think of with Sabretooth’s demeanor and will be the default one on my shelf.
He also has swappable hands with more outstretched, grasping hands. That makes more sense than fists and I’m glad Hasbro went this route.
Worth it? The Wolverine two-packs were all reasonably priced initially. This set was $50, the same as buying two Marvel Legends separately. Given Sabretooth’s larger scale that’s a solid deal.
Rating:10 out of 10
This is a fantastic set with an excellent Sabretooth upgrade and a Logan that is better than I expected. There’s been a lot of multi-packs this year, but this one is absolutely one of the best.
Where to get it? Of the four Wolverine sets the Logan and Sabretooth has easily been the hardest to find. I got mine from Entertainment Earth. Amazon has the set in stock, but at much higher than the standard retail price.
