WWE Ultimate Edition Bobby Lashley review (2024)

Bobby Lashley is almost too dominant for WWE. He had the realistic pain maker presence that made it hard to believe that guys like Austin Theory could ever give him any problem. Very shaky WWE booking of Kofi Kingston and Big E’s world title runs, Bobby Lashley was the dude that Brock Lesnar couldn’t easily squash.

But with the focus being all on Roman Reigns, there wasn’t much room for two super dominant heels on the roster eventually leading to the end of The Hurt Business and Lashley’s WWE tenure. Fortunately, Mattel was able to get out an Ultimate Edition version of The All Mighty before he departed for AEW.

Let’s see if this version of Lashley is actually worthy or if it’s not at all mighty.

Packaging:  The UE packaging has stayed standard for MOC collectors with the white packaging with red accents. The side portrait of Lashley looks fine, but as usual the real fun is on the back.

That features an elaborate photo of the figure and an action reference shot. We get the stat breakdown and a well written bio though it’s a little weird that his career highlight is limited to WWE Champion when he was also a multi-time US and Intercontinental Champion.

Likeness:  Bobby Lashley is an intense dude. He’s a mass of muscle and does not look like someone easily punked out.

Mattel went with the muscular torso for him, which is clearly the best fit. By this phase in his WWE career, Lashley was wearing full length tights with a belt and sculpted cross stitch style zipper portion. His boots are more intricate than the norm with slots wrapping around on either side.

His default head sculpt is the perturbed expression suggesting he is about to demolish his opponent at any moment. The likeness is very good really capturing that no-nonsense demeanor of The All Mighty.

Scale:  Bobby Lashley is 6’3 so he’s not towering over everyone on the roster, but he is taller than the 6’2″ Seth Rollins. He’s the same height as The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. He will be looking up at the 6’5″ Drew McIntyre.

MORE:

Paint: This costume is a bit too colorful for the dominant Lashley as it channels both Hulkamania and McDonalds. Regardless, Mattel pulled it off nicely with very clean applications of the red and yellow slots on his boots. Given the option, it would have been cooler if Mattel gave Lashley his black and gold Hurt Business color scheme.

Mattel figures featuring sloppy paintjobs is far more than rare exception than anything to be remotely concerned about. They’re high on my list of lines I can collect without any concern about shoddy paint work. That’s true as well with this Lashley figure. Even with the notoriously tricky combination of red and yellow, the linework is crisp and there’s no bleeding from one color into another.

They also did some very nice work on his tight logo detailing and tattoo.

Bonus points for the impressive work on the ‘zipper’ portion of his tights.

Articulation:  Lashley is a power guy so he’s all about the big, sudden impact moves.

Thanks to the addition of the butterfly shoulder joint it’s much easier to pull off Lashley’s overhead suplexes, flatliners, spinebusters and The Hurt Lock. Really nailing the Hurt Lock would require other figures to have the same setup, but he can do it decently enough against standard Elite figures.

Accessories:  Mattel gave Lashley a good number of accessories even if he doesn’t have as many viable options as some other stars.

First up, he’s got two other head sculpts. One is bemused expression as if he’s being challenged by someone Lashley will dominate.

The other is an intense, yelling sculpt.

Those are both very good options for Lashley, and they definitely add welcome diversity to how he might look during the course of a match.

He comes with the United States championship complete with Bobby Lashley plates on either side. That’s pretty cool to see that level of detail included on the title, but it does prevent it from being an everyday use US title that any figure can use.  The sheen on the title is really sharp and the lettering detail is extremely well done.

Swappable hands? He’s got them too. Bobby Lashley has two pointing fingers for his signature pose and a set of swappable fists. Lashley wraps his right hand, so this figure has the red wrap around the right index pointing hand and the right fist for full accuracy.

Finally, he’s got a soft goods T-shirt. The tampo on this is excellent with great detail and having just a little bit of fading to get that realistic application that you’d see on an actual shirt.

Worth it?  Bobby Lashley leaving WWE certainly hasn’t kept his UE figure cheap and affordable. You can get it anywhere from the standard-ish price of $35 to $45. I did find mine at Target so some stores might still have him in stock. Based on his AEW status, you’d probably be best served buying him if you do see him in stores now. The portraits, cloth shirt and specialized US title in the end justify the standard UE price point.

Rating: 9.5 out of 10

Really my only gripe here is the color attire selected though Lashley wore this enough that it’s not a puzzling choice by any means. By default this is the best UE Bobby Lashley figure, but it’s quietly one of the best ones Mattel has released in this line.
