WWE Monday Night War Elite Razor Ramon review
Razor Ramon/Scott Hall getting his second figure in the WWE Monday Night Wars Elite line shows how small the talent pool is for this subset series.
I’m not complaining though as the line has produced some worthwhile variants of some key players during the MNW era — assuming you can find them of course.
Razor Ramon gets his sweet yellow attire for this version, which is part of the Build A Figure Dusty Rhodes wave.
Let’s see if The Bad Guy’s latest is another winner or should’ve been cut for another star.
Packaging: The Monday Night War packaging stands out even among the other unique Elite special presentations. It’s got the grated backdrop of Monday Night Nitro in the backdrop, which is nice since this setup is a bit more WCW-focused.
Razor Ramon portrait is in the upper left side with a larger blurb shows The Monday Night War WWE vs WCW logo and this wave’s Build-A-Figure nWo Dusty. On the side portrait, there is a larger picture of Ramon and in a very cool touch, the date of when he wore this attire — Dec. 18, 1995.
The bio is also focused on that specific moment, which is fine since we’ve already gotten more career retrospective bios for Ramon.
Likeness: The likeness is really good. For this head sculpt, Mattel went with the smiling portrait that has a tease of cockiness in it. That mostly matches up with the box art so it shows how tight the likeness is with this sculpt.
This is the standard Razor Ramon part formula though as usual Mattel could stand to give him thicker arms.
Scale: At 6’7” Razor was just a few inches shy of being considered a giant although he was taller than most of his peers like the 6’3” Yokozuna and 6’6” Goldust. His buddy, the 6’1” 1-2-3-Kid should be much shorter than him.

Paint: This yellow color scheme is not one we saw a ton from Razor, but it made for a nice alternative from his black, red and purple gear.
Razor Ramon is one of the few characters where I don’t mind having multiple Elite and Ultimate Edition figures simply because he mixed up his color scheme so often.
This must be his Hulkamania inspired combo as it’s predominantly yellow with red accents.
Articulation: Like the other Razor Ramon figures, his elbow pads restrict some of his movement. His kneepads have a similar issue, but Mattel still hasn’t figured out a good way to make them accurate and not hinder the articulation.
Razor can pull off most of his moves from the abdominal stretch, choke slam, overhead suplex and the Razor’s Edge.
Razor Ramon has:
- neck
- bicep
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbows
- wrists
- wrist hinge
- waist
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Razor comes with his gold chains. These have been used with the other Razor Ramon figures and work fine for his ring gear.
Typically, Mattel has released the Razor figures with a plastic vest but this time he gets a soft goods one. That’s impressive as this is the most complex vest we’ve gotten from Mattel. I love this pattern and the standard back in black with The Bad Guy on the back.
He comes with thumbs up hands, which is great for his taunt pose.
Finally, he comes with the torso for the BAF nWo Dusty Rhodes.
Worth it? Razor goes for the standard $23.99 price for BAF waves. Walmart had a crazy sale to get Razor down to $11.99. That’s absolutely a killer deal and well worth it for this version of Razor.
Rating: 9 out of 10
Razor is a really solid figure. I love the yellow color scheme and the soft goods vest. A few more hand sculpts and a serious portrait would be welcome accessories, but there’s plenty of Razor figures to borrow them from. This one is well worth seeking out.
Where to get it? The MNW line is exclusive to Walmart, but you can also get Razor Ramon from Creations.Mattel. Amazon has a variety of Razor Ramon figures available.
