Image Comics reviews 4/9/25 – Transformers 19, Geiger 13

Geiger 13

Geiger’s first year is a wrap and issue 13 makes a strong case that the second year is going to lose any momentum.

Writer Geoff Johns hasn’t let up a bit of the tremendous character development, world building, action and genuine surprising twists.

Tariq realizes he’s not gaining any further control of his power. Encountering Ashley Arden, the Glowing Woman, who seems to have a mastery of her powers, encourages Tariq to stay with Ashley. Hernandez connection to his late mentor, Dr. Molotov, furthers this brewing bond. Tariq doesn’t know Ashley has Molotov captive and he wants to warn him of the very real threat Ashley presents.

Johns starts to share some of Ashley’s origin planting the seeds to explain why she would deceive Tariq. Additionally, Johns works in some nice moments with Tariq and Junkyard Joe and Nate the Nuclear Knight.

Gary Frank’s artwork is consistently sharp with a solid amount of emotion conveyed in tense moments. It’s always easy to get what the characters are feeling even if the dialogue isn’t present with Frank’s artwork.

Brad Anderson’s colors continue to be a highlight. He adds a real spark to Tariq and now Ash with their glowing abilities. The other coloring is rich fully establishing the environment and embellishing smaller details like Joe’s mechanical parts. Rob Leigh’s lettering is always nicely arranged with the sound effects adding a lot to the presentation.

Geiger #13 sets up a really strong payoff for this arc with next issue looking like it could be one of the strongest in the series so far. Geiger remains one of the most consistently strong titles not just from Image’s Ghost Machine brand, but in all of comics.
