Marvel Legends Wolfsbane review (2024) BAF Zabu wave
Wolfsbane is a rarity for the Marvel Legends line — she completes a popular team that was one member away for years from being done.
X-Factor ver. 2 has been a Wolfsbane away from being done for a few years to the point that even later additions like Random and Forge were also knocked out.
This figure has been a long time coming so let’s see if Hasbro delivered that will have me celebrating the next full moon or howling in disgust.
Packaging: All the figures in the BAF Zabu wave have the signature black with red trim and orange yellow for the accent color. Ordinarily this would make the figure pop but Wolfsbane gets somewhat “lost” due to her color scheme.
The package features artwork from X-Men Legends #6 by Todd Nauck. His style really works well for younger characters, which is great for Rahne even if it’s not the best artwork match for the figure.
Her bio is fairly generic though it covers the gist of what he does.
Likeness: One of the reasons for the delay with Wolfsbane was she was going to require a completely dedicated sculpt.
It’s pretty nicely done with fur sculpted throughout her arms and legs. Her head sculpt is decent though something about her expression is throwing me off.
Or maybe it’s something to do with her eyes being positioned as if she’s looking up? She does have her prominent Wolverine hairstyle though, which was a solid touch.
For the Marvel Legends Dani Moonstar figure, Hasbro included a Karma and Wolfsbane head and hands. That head featured a less intense head sculpt though it won’t match paint wise.
Initially, I thought her X-Factor outfit was a reuse of the Polaris torso, but Rahne’s body is thicker, which should be the opposite since Polaris was a grown woman unlike the teenager Wolfsbane. The necessary costume elements like the collar clasp, the looped zipper and waist belt straps are sculpted.
Paint: Rahne is typically colored with a darker brown hue for her lupine form. This figure has a lighter almost orange hue although that is at least mildly presented in comics as her base fur color scheme.
Overall, Rahne has a very solid paintjob including particularly crisp work for the blues and yellows. And certainly around her mouth and teeth.

Scale: Wolfsbane has typically been written as a shorter character even among her peers among the New Mutants. She should be right around Polaris’ chest. This figure is much taller and her overall scale is more suitable if Rahne were a grown adult and not an older teen.
Articulation: As a slashing, striking character, Wolfsbane definitely would have benefitted from butterfly shoulders. This would have been challenging to set up with her outfit.
She does have all the rest of the modern female articulation with bicep and double-jointed elbows. Her outfit’s shoulder cuffs do make it necessary to be mindful when you’re raising her arms up. Naturally it would have been great to get her into a full crouch so she could get into deeper poses. That’s limited due to the range on her ankle joint.
Wolfsbane has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- upper torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: Wolfsbane doesn’t come with many accessories.
She has a swappable set of fists. Given the intense, angry head sculpt it would have been great to get a more relaxed, calm portrait.
In lieu of anything else, she does have the torso for the Build-A-Figure Zabu.
Worth it? Amazon had a great sale for the Zabu wave during the Christmas holiday knocking off $10 for most figures so I was able to get her for $15 instead of the usual $25. Wolfsbane needed more to truly justify that original price point or ironically if she were shorter to better scale with the rest of X-Factor.
Rating: 8 out of 10
Wolfsbane is decent for a long-awaited figure. I wish she had an alternate portrait and were scaled better. Chances are this is the one Wolfsbane figure we would get in her X-Factor togs so the gaffes are more frustrating.
