G.I. Joe Classified Series Tiger Force Dusty review (No. 65)
Did I buy the Tiger Force Dusty because of a better face paint setup? Yes. And also because he was available at Ross for $8.
Of the various Tiger Force members, Dusty made more sense than most. A desert trooper traipsing around the jungle wasn’t that big a stretch. I’d been eyeing Tiger Force Dusty after seeing this figure had the signature face paint application of the original Real American Hero figure. An update was necessary.
Now that I’ve got him for a good price let’s see if this Dusty repaint was worth grabbing.
Packaging: Tiger Force Dusty came around during that magical time when Hasbro experimented with windowless packaging.
Dusty’s original Classified Series figure did have the early setup so we did see him in the packaging for the MOC collectors. This time we get a wider image of the package artwork just repainted in Tiger Force colors.
Likeness: This is the exact same figure as before. I love the head sculpt, which gives him an air of measured confidence.
Dusty uses the Duke torso with new arms. He’s got that smaller skirt piece that can’t be as long as it should to look perfect without hindering his articulation.
It would have been great if the CS team incorporated a workaround for Dusty’s loose-fitting helmet this time around without needing the various goggles technique.
Scale: Thanks to his elongated neck, Dusty is a little taller than he probably should be compared to other Joes he’s commonly portrayed as being similar in height.

Paint: Here’s the big difference for folks with Tiger Force Dusty. Instead of his tan with darker brown camouflage, Dusty gets a more colorful outfit for TF.
His shirt and skirt piece are now Battle Cat green complete with yellow tiger stripes. His t-shirt underneath is red and his pants are now an army green to match his helmet.
The paint applications for this is very clean and looks very sharp. For me, the big draw with Tiger Force Dusty was the head sculpt paint job with a face camo set up far more like the RAH version with the paint coming over his right eye.
This will quickly get swapped over to my classic Dusty figure.
Articulation: There’s no mystery with his movement. Dusty still has the great range of motion as his original figure.
Tiger Force Dusty has:
- head
- neck
- shoulders (butterfly)
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- mid-torso
- torso
- waist
- hips (ball-jointed)
- drop down hips
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Dusty’s gear doesn’t deviate from the original figure. He still has his updated FAMAS that’s got a removable magazine and bipod. This time the butt is painted green to match his outfit.
Also intact are the goggles though again they’ve got a Tiger Force paint hit. In this case the lenses are painted red.
Tiger Force Dusty also has his backpack with two canteens on either side. This time it’s painted a chocolate brown instead of light brown.
And he’s also got his smaller knife for up close and personal battles with Cobras and jungle inhabitants.
Dusty’s RAH figure came with a FAMAS submachine gun. This figure has a nice approximation of that also includes a removable magazine and the bipod just like the original figure.
Worth It? Originally, Tiger Force Dusty was the usual $25. If you can find him at Ross that’s the best option since he’s just $8. Amazon has him for a decent price of $15. For those building out their Tiger Force subset, he’s definitely worth adding to the team.
Rating: out of 10
Where to Get It? Target was the exclusive home of Tiger Force figures and vehicles, but now you can get Tiger Force Dusty at discount retailers like Ross. You can also get him from Amazon.
