Marvel Legends X-Factor Cyclops review – BAF Nemesis wave (2025)

X-Factor Cyclops has been on my Marvel Legends wish list for a while. X-Factor was one of the early Marvel titles I read monthly as I started to get into comics beyond G.I. Joe.

Both Toy Biz and Hasbro have done Marvel Legends X-Factor Cyclops figures, but they’ve done the blue and white second outfit. Outside of a Marvel Universe figure we hadn’t gotten the original X-Factor costume for their leader.

Maybe the most encouraging aspect of this figure is Hasbro already showed an X-Factor Marvel Girl so we’re 2/5 of the way done already.

Let’s see if this X-Factor Cyclops lives up to my high expectations of being potentially one of my favorite figures of 2025 or if he’ll be one of my bigger disappointments.

Packaging: This is the second wave with the newer wider boxy style packaging. It’s mostly black with a prominent X-Men logo and a touch of orange yellow in the upper right.

The back has more orange yellow and art from X-Factor Annual #1. The bio is decent though it could have been more detailed about X-Factor.

Likeness: X-Factor Cyclops uses the Vulcan mold, the new base body Hasbro is going to use going forward for all Cyclops figures.

It’s a great base for him with plenty of poseability. This is a new skullcap head sculpt for Cyclops with a bit of a smirk.

That seems a little out of character for the usually morose Scott Summers and especially during the early days of X-Factor.

I do dig it for showing a more confident version of Cyclops. My favorite head sculpt remains the one used on the Dark Phoenix/Cyclops two-pack.

Scale: Scott is listed at 6’3”, which puts him taller than most of teammates including the 5’11” Beast and 6’ Angel. Of course, different artists including on X-Factor, mixed and played around with his height compared to the others but that’s his legit height. The Marvel Girl will be shorter, but the real test of his scale accuracy won’t come until we get a human X-Factor Beast, Angel and Iceman.

MORE:

Paint: Yellow on blue isn’t an ideal color combination for a clean paint job. This was my biggest concern since this wave is largely not available at retail. Despite those concerns, this is an exceptionally crisp paint job, which is particularly impressive given the X-pattern of his outfit.

The yellow pops and the blue is a nice, deep royal shade of blue making for a figure that definitely stands out in an X-Men display. For some weird reason, the ML team neglected to paint the yellow ear cups on the sides of his visor. Some of the early X-Factor issues had this area colored blue instead of yellow so at least there is an excuse for them missing that paint app.

Articulation: The Vulcan mold allows for some very fun posing and it’s fun staging these dynamic poses of Cyke unleashing his optic blasts.

He’s not a character typically associated with dynamic poses, but this figure really inspires some more action-oriented movement. Thanks to the accessories it sets up for some creative poses.

Accessories: Hasbro packed the X-Factor Cyclops out with useful accessories.

First is a swappable set of hands — a cupped right hand and a left hand with the index and middle fingers gesturing forward.

Next up is a more intense teeth gritted head sculpt. This also has an open slot in the visor for the next accessory component.

Cyke gets an optic beam blast. This is similar to the last X-Factor Cyclops and plugs into the slot with no trouble.

This connects to the new piece — the optic blast impact ricochet. This is a nicely done piece with a translucent red and orange.

Finally, he comes with the right leg for the Build-A-Figure Nemesis.

Worth It? Cyclops was $25. He actually has more accessories than the usual Marvel Legends figure, including a newer piece so it feels like a better value. Especially since this wave also actually includes a Build-A-Figure.

Rating: 9.5 out of 10

X-Factor Cyclops is a really great version of Cyke in his first X-Men spin-off costume. This base is a few glove and boot cuffs away from being a simple X-Factor ver. 2 figure.

Where to Get It?  This is another wave that’s largely not going to be at retail save for GameStop. The best bet to get X-Factor Cyclops is online like Amazon or Entertainment Earth which also has him in stock.
