Marvel Legends Savage Land Professor X review (2025)
Savage Land Professor X was not an essential figure for my collection, but I liked the idea of pairing this look for Chuck in the hover chair instead of the wheelchair I associate more with a classic look for him.
If anything, this costume is the ‘Jim Lee’ design in the way the Cyclops, Jean Grey and Rogue costumes are designated. Let’s see if this likely final Marvel Legends Professor X delivers or if I needed to have my head examined with this pickup.
Packaging: Savage Land Professor X is on the Retro card so there’s nothing too special here.
I can’t place the artist for this one (is it David Nakayama?) but it’s a solid drawing for the card art. As a heroic X-Man, Xavier gets the red and orange color scheme.
In a nod to the old comics, the card art also features the floating heads of Wolverine, Storm, Rogue and Gambit.
There’s no cross sell, just a bio that actually does a good job of explaining the point of the Savage Land Professor X.
Likeness: Professor X is largely using the West Coast Avengers Hank Pym figure save for the head sculpt of course and what I think are the X-Factor Havok forearms and gloves.
This is one of those cases where the heavy reuse is perfectly acceptable. I am impressed that Hasbro keeps cranking out new head sculpts for Xavier. He’s become quite the expressive guy.
Scale: The Pym mold is just a smidge too tall — probably due to the boots — which make him wider and slightly taller than the recent X-Men 97 Magneto.
Granted, for the most part you’re more likely to have Professor X in this gear in the hover chair so his height won’t be a big deal. Pun not intended.

Paint: The shade of green is inconsistent throughout Savage Land Professor X. The torso and waist are one shade; the arms and legs are two other shades of green. And as usual, there is discoloration at the knee and elbow joints.
That’s the worst color matching I’ve seen one an outfit that should be the same color, which is weird since the plastic seems like it would have all been molded in the same green.
Impressively, Hasbro included the red circle with the black X on both shoulders. He also has some red on his belt buckle.
In the comics, this outfit is largely colored light brown instead of green. The cartoon series featured this look in green explaining the figure’s look right down to the light grey boots.
Articulation: For a change Chuck does need to have decent articulation. Savage Land Professor X had the use of his legs though he could not use his telepathic powers. The jumpsuit mold makes for a pretty smooth moving figure with easy posing and strong joints to look poses in place.
If you prefer to keep him in the hoverchair, Xavier still has plenty of room for just torso and up movement.
Savage Land Professor X has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: Savage Land Professor X has an ok number of accessories, which continues to feel like an afterthought with the Retro card figures.
He gets a set of open hands and a left hand mimicking a gun/for deep concentration harnessing his telepathic abilities.
As a random throw-in, he also has another version of a Cerebro helmet. I’m not sure why he would have this as it’s been a minute since I’ve watched the episode, but it’s a cool inclusion. Especially since I think it’s a new mold.
Worth It? Savage Land Professor X was the standard $25. I’m not sure if I would say he’s that great a value since he’s mostly reused parts and the paint is inconsistent throughout the jumpsuit. More accessories including an alternate head sculpt would have helped to balance out the cost.
Rating: out of 10
