McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse DC Classic Bizarro review (2025)

The DC Classic Bizarro has been a long time coming for the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse line.

McFarlane has already done a few Bizarro figures (like the Red Hood and The Outsiders version on Amazon) but the Classic Bizarro is the version I’ve been waiting on for awhile now. That definitely increased after opening the outstanding DC Digital Superman earlier this month.

Let’s see if the Classic Bizarro is a terrible figure that I can’t stand or is an addition that everyone praises for being the best figure release of 2025.

Packaging:  Classic Bizarro gets the base Multiverse packaging with the white accents along the mainly black color scheme. Seemingly just for fun he also gets a McFarlane Gold Label sticker on the left side.

The rear artwork shows a very Classic Bizarro perhaps from Curt Swan?

Likeness: Classic Bizarro lives up to the name with a nice throwback head sculpt complete with disheveled hair. Despite a plethora of newer bodies to choose from, including the newest Superman figure, McFarlane Toys opted to use the Action Comics #1000 mold (with some torso changes) complicate with the paneling and cuffs of that attire.

That’s annoying as the Digital Superman really should have been the basis for this Bizarro. McFarlane does everything right with some of the figures with the colors and costume but then will do something immensely infuriating like giving this layup contender for best of the year an old, outdated body.

In a major plus from the original AC Superman, Classic Bizarro has a wired soft goods cape.

Scale: McFarlane has found scale challenging over the years. The AC Superman mold was never the tallest figure in the line so Classic Bizarro isn’t nearly as tall or formidable looking as the DC Digital Superman.

He also looks way too close in scale for my liking to his Legion of Doom teammates Lex Luthor, The Riddler or Captain Cold.

MORE:

Paint: Classic Bizarro mostly has the same paint job as the Silver Age Superman with that azure shade of blue and vibrant red for his trunks and boots.

Curiously, McFarlane Toys opted for a metallic red for his backwards S-shield. It’s an odd inconsistency with the rest of the figure but also kinda works for Bizarro.

His ashy skin has a solid chalky white with a grey wash that arguably might be a bit too dark.

Articulation: Every McFarlane figure has 22 points of articulation, but the Action Comics Superman didn’t make the best use of it compared to later figures.

That means Classic Bizarro lacks double-jointed elbows. To a large extent, that’s balanced out by Bizarro getting the soft goods cape. This allows for far more dynamic posing and doesn’t give him any annoying posing limitations.

Classic Bizarro has:

  • neck
  • ball-jointed shoulders with butterfly joint
  • elbow
  • wrist
  • wrist hinge
  • torso
  • waist
  • hip
  • thigh
  • knee
  • ankle
  • toe

Accessories: Classic Bizarro isn’t loaded with accessories, but what he has makes sense. He has a set of swappable fists which are useful when battling Superman.

He also comes with his signature Bizarro No. 1 sign. That’s a fun inclusion as it’s scaled properly so it doesn’t look too small or big.

As always, he’s got the smaller circular stand and a trading card with a bio.

Worth It? Classic Bizarro runs for a classic price point of $22.99 making him a decent value.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

I don’t get too worked up over some of the McFarlane part choices, but Classic Bizarro would really be a perfect figure on the DC Digital Superman mold. Using the original Superman buck with its limited articulation and scale really drags this guy down.

Where to Get It? I found Classic Bizarro at Walmart, but he has also shown up at GameStop. And at this rate it wouldn’t be shocking if he showed up on Amazon as well.
