Jurassic World Rebirth 4K and Blu-Ray review

Jurassic World Rebirth 4K delivers solid transfer of blockbuster.

Jurassic World Rebirth proved there’s still plenty of magic left in the old bones of this franchise during franchise.

Rebirth features a new cast led by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey replacing Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The trio are part of an expedition seeking the DNA of three specific dinosaurs. Securing that for a shady corporation represented by Rupert Friend. The trip gets sidelined temporarily by a family headed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who has their boat capsized by one of the dinosaurs the group is pursuing.

In a surprising twist, the family, including a precocious young girl (Audrina Miranda), prove to be assets to the film and don’t hinder the thrills. Director Gareth Edwards might have been too hasty killing off some of the crew members as that narrows the viable death scenes for the majority of the film. With the new cast, the series feels revitalized, and Edwards comes up with some creative action sequences as well as the introduction of a new mutated dinosaur.

Jurassic World Rebirth 4K Picture Quality

The Jurassic World Rebirth 4K doesn’t offer a reference quality transfer to show off its vibrant colors picking up all the detail and texture of the dinosaurs.

Instead, the picture has more film grain, which is important to maintain the visual illusion of the dinosaurs and the actors being in the same world. If the picture were too pristine it would create an uncanny valley effect and make the dinosaurs look too artificial.

That said, the Jurassic World Rebirth 4K picture is more than adequate picking up details like fabric, grime and bloodstains as well as finer detail like skin blemishes. While not as colorful particularly noticeable in areas like the stroll through the jungle, the blacks are solid without being so murky that details are lost.

It’s a very strong cinematic transfer even if it’s not as showy as some viewers might expect.

Jurassic World Rebirth 4K Audio Quality

Although the picture might not dazzle, the audio certainly should impress.

The Dolby Atmos audio is stellar picking up all of the various ambient noises that might not be as apparent watching the film in theaters.

The Jurassic World Rebirth 4K includes a generous number of extras and bonus footage. The cast is highly involved in these engaging segments as the filmmakers break down some of their creative decisions.

One of the more insightful features is the director’s commentary track from Edwards, production designer James Clyne and 1st Assistant Director Jack Ravenscroft. Edwards also does another commentary track with editor Jabez Olssen and visual effects supervisor David Vickery.

Treasure hunters might also appreciate the Easter Egg feature, which pays homage to the previous films in the series as well as some other iconic movies.
