MOTU Masterverse New Eternia Tri-Klops review (2023)
The New Eternia Tri-Klops actually filled a slight hole in my Masterverse collection. I didn’t get the Revelations version before it started shooting up in price. When I saw the early images of this one, I decided the New Eternia figure was a better option anyway. At least for a pseudo-classic Tri-Klops. I still might get the Revelations figure and just keep him in his techno disciple attire.
Tri-Klops is one of my favorite of Skeletor’s henchmen right alongside Beast Man, Mer-Man, Trap Jaw and Evil Lyn. I really like the idea of New Eternia and decided my Masterverse collection needed to focus on this realm of MOTU lore.
Let’s see (heh-heh) if the New Eternia Tri-Klops was worth getting or if I’ll regret it in hindsight…
Packaging: This new packaging for the Masterverse line is so well done with all kinds of cool storytelling elements in it. For his, the larger image shows Tri-Klops preparing to face off against a horde of Blue Demons. This is a reference to the original mini-comic that came with his vintage figure right down to Skeletor and Beast-Man observing the action from a portal.
The side image on the right side features a portrait of the base figure’s appearance while the full image shows him in his slightly altered gear. On the back, there is an image of the New Eternia Tri-Klops figure emerging from a digitally created portal with three (fitting) images showing off some of his gear and accessories.
His bio explains his newer visor, which shows him a different Eternia where Grayskull’s power is up for grabs.
Likeness: New Eternia Tri-Klops has some noticeable shifts from his standard appearance though it’s not so drastic that he’s not recognizable.
His expression is as focused as ever with a slight sneer. He’s let his hair down now and has a little party in the back action going. New Eternia Tri-Klops is rocking his signature feathered-style harness with the raised points at the shoulders. Now the lower portion has a teeth-like design before the corded bottom section.
New Eternia Tri-Klops has a different setup for his two belts with a more ornate pattern on them. There is a more noticeable gap between the belts now as the top one doesn’t lay flush against the bottom one. The bottom belt at least is the same as the one included with Man-At-Arms.
His loincloth is unique in that it’s more of a layered, feathered pattern. I appreciate the distinction from character to character in the New Eternia realm. He does retain the wrapped boots and the small wrist bracelets.
In another nod to his original mini-comic appearance, he’s got a bejeweled sash with gems of various colors around it. This piece is removable however.
Scale: New Eternia Tri-Klops is about average height and is eye to eye(s) with Skeletor. And he’s fittingly looking up at the larger henchmen like Whiplash and Two Bad.

Paint: Thankfully sketchy paint jobs are not a concern with the Masterverse line. Yes, they’re not as paint demanding as some other lines, but what is there is always done crisply and that’s not the case with all lines.
That said, the red eye has a bit of caked up paint at the bottom portion that barely peers over the sculpted line. The gold circle in his top belt is applied cleanly. It is interesting that Mattel didn’t paint the lower portion of his chest armor gold like it appears in the card artwork or the figure on the rear packaging.
Articulation: Same as the other figures in the Masterverse line, New Eternia Tri-Klops sports 30 points of articulation. That’s more than enough for him to dazzle his opponents with his sword play or slash them down while prepping his sophisticated eye system mechanism.
New Eternia Tri-Klops has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: New Eternia Tri-Klops has a solid amount of gear.
He’s got his usual sword. It’s got the green hilt with three circles along its base. There are some impressive paint apps along the hilt and handle.
He also has an extra sword with a more detailed golden hilt that also includes a large eye in the center and two smaller ones on either side. That’s a nice touch and way to stay on brand for Tri-Klops.
Depending on your preference, Tri-Klops has a separate eye dial. This one is slightly more tech-oriented with slots instead of the scaled look of the default version. You have to pop it off instead of rotating it, but it is very cool.
To hold onto his gear, New Eternia Tri-Klops comes with a set of swappable gripping hands.
Worth it? I got New Eternia Tri-Klops for $18 thanks to a Creations Mattel sale. Amazon has him on sale now for even cheaper at $15.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
New Eternia Tri-Klops is another tremendous addition to the New Eternia line. I do wish his visor had the rotating feature, however.
Where to Get It? He is normally found at Target, but you can also grab New Eternia Tri-Klops from Amazon.
