DC Comics reviews 9/24/25 – Absolute Wonder Woman 12, JLU 11
Absolute Wonder Woman 12
Consistency remains the keyword for Absolute Wonder Woman. Writer Kelly Thompson, artist Hayden Sherman, colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Becca Carey are on fire, and this title remains one of the more refreshing alternate takes on a top tier comic that’s ever been done. At the same time, nothing that’s playing out in Absolute Wonder Woman feels out of character for Diana.
In the conclusion of the As My Mother Made Me arc, Diana is battling Clea, who feels like she’s lost everything with Diana’s arrival. Wonder Woman helps guide Ferdinand out of the maze along with her Amazon sister, Io, while keeping Clea and her fish men occupied. Wonder Woman isn’t so much interested in winning the fight as opposed to ending it. Sometimes she doesn’t her sword, an axe or her fists to accomplish that when she can simply talk it out. Thompson has found that warrior fighting for peace dynamic with Diana without making her a boring character. And it fully works in the context of this series.
Sherman masterfully lays out the pages creating such a dazzling landscape rich with such a layered fantasy feel. Bellaire’s colors are a wonderful complement and Carey’s lettering is always on point.
The end of this first year wraps up another supremely entertaining arc while setting up potentially a huge arc with this semi-cliffhanger announcement. Absolute Wonder Woman has been a revelation since its arrival, and it hasn’t lost any momentum. Here’s to another year of fantastic storytelling.
