Dynamite Entertainment – Space Ghost Vol 2 4 review
Space Ghost Vol 2 4 is another rock solid installment of the series while showing there’s still plenty of intrigue and surprises left.
Space Ghost, Jan, Jace and Blip travel undercover to the planet Liquo where a peace summit is set to end a long running war between the Space Sharks and Glastor’s Crystalline Empire.
Neither the Space Shark ruler, King Remora, or Emperor Glasstor, are particularly thrilled at the idea of a peace treaty, but both know it’s the best approach for their people.
Writer David Pepose does a stellar job of building the uncertainty and tension as Space Ghost and crew observe the proceedings in stealth mode ready for the inevitable to play out.
In this case it’s a sniper’s bullet aimed at one of the two leaders. Space Ghost prevents an initial tragedy even as Jace finds himself in a bad predicament.
Even with the assassination attempt averted, the tenuous truce is shattered as both armies prepare to take out their rivals once and for all.
Artist Jonathan Lau steps up his already incredible output to fully convey this powdered situation. Once the fuse is lit, Lau raises the visual stakes another level with some dynamic perspectives.
Space Ghost Vol 2 4 might be some of Lau’s best work on the title. Lau’s art does a fantastic job of showing two warring empires colliding and Space Ghost and company caught in the middle trying to prevent a full-scale galactic catastrophe.

Colorist Andrew Dalhouse has plenty to tackle in Space Ghost Vol 2 4 as well with various energy projections, the Liquo backdrop, the Glasstor crystalline shapes and Space Ghost’s vibrant white outfit.
This was a strong showcase for letterer Taylor Esposito as well, who does nice work in Space Ghost Vol 2 4 making distinct fonts for the various alien races as well as the bombastic sound effects.
Pepose doesn’t make every issue one long continual arc so the fact that Space Ghost Vol 2 4 reads like the first salvo in a longer story indicates that this is about to be truly special. The restraint in not making every story or villain an epic seven-issue event actually makes those rare moments special in Space Ghost.
Space Ghost Vol 2 4 is just the start of something that feels special in a title that makes remarkable consistency the norm. This is a terrific jump on point for readers who might have been holding off on one of the year’s best titles.
