DC Comics reviews – 10/22/25 – JLU 12, Absolute Wonder Woman 13
Superman 31
Joshua Williamson brings the title up to speed with the universe-wide crossover, DC KO. For this issue, Williamson works between the lines of some aspects of the already established story told in DC KO 1.
Superman braces for the worst as the DC heroes prepare for an all-out tournament to decide who will face Darkseid in an effort to save the universe. First, he has to make sure Lois and his parents are squared away in case the worst-case scenario plays out and the heroes fall to Darkseid.
As Superman enters the tournament, Lois Lane does some investigative reporting to determine exactly what Lara and Jor-El knew about Darkseid prior to Krypton’s destruction. This was a savvy move by Williamson, as it provides Lois with a compelling subplot since Superman’s exploits will largely play out in DC KO.
Eddy Barrows and inker Eber Ferreira deliver stellar artwork with crisp, clean pages. While this is mostly an establishing the tone for this arc setup, there are some dazzling action sequences. Alejandro Sanchez’s color work is always strong with rich colors that complement Barrows’ style. Letterer Ariana Maher keeps clean dialogue linework with appropriate tone-setting larger fonts for greater impact.
Superman’s KO tie-in starts off strong with a quality opening chapter with a fun twist in the final few pages that should be more than enough to avoid this arc feeling like a time-filler until the event is concluded.
